Comedienne Park Mi-Sun has revealed her battle with breast cancer.
On the 28th, a video titled ‘[A Wise Patient’s Diary-1] Becoming a Cancer Patient Overnight’ was uploaded to the YouTube channel ‘I Am Park Mi-Sun’.
In the video, Park Mi-Sun opened with the message, “In December 2014, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and I started chemotherapy in January 2025. I tried to document my time fighting the illness on video. I hope many fellow patients will find strength from this video and that it helps, even a little.”
Before starting chemotherapy, Park Mi-Sun went on a family trip to Gangneung. She spent a pleasant time at the seaside with her husband Lee Bong-Won, their son, and daughter, and prepared for chemo by taking their first family four-cut photo strip.
On the day of her first chemotherapy session, pointing to the chemoport inserted in her shoulder, she explained, “When you get chemotherapy injections, your veins can be damaged,” introducing a more efficient option than a standard IV.
After finishing her first chemo, she said, “Fortunately, after the chemo at the hospital and taking lots of different medications, I’m okay so far. I think I still have a bit of an appetite. I’m just a little dizzy and my blood pressure dropped a bit, but otherwise I’m fine.”
The next day, while out for a walk with her daughter, Park Mi-Sun smiled and said, “I don’t feel bad, so I’m circling the neighborhood. I’m exercising and hanging in there. It’s the first round, but my appetite is still okay, and it seems the injections suit me. They say cases like this aren’t common. I’ve heard some people go into shock after the first round, but I’m okay.”
Park Mi-Sun spent quiet days visiting a neighborhood book cafe with her family or seeking out a good malatang place. At home, she enjoyed playing Nintendo golf with Lee Bong-Won and steadily took walks to build her stamina.
There were tough moments, too. “Yesterday I nearly died and came back. Today my stomach doesn’t hurt, so I think I’ll make it,” she said. One side-effect medication didn’t agree with her, causing a hard time. She joked, “Two to three days before the second round is when I feel my best. Just when I start to feel like living, I go back in and get knocked flat again.”
Meanwhile, Park Mi-Sun halted her activities for about a year due to her cancer battle, then drew attention by appearing on tvN’s ‘You Quiz on the Block’ on the 12th.
