Singer and TV personality Lee Mi-joo made a striking transformation with ‘gyaru makeup’, heating up the internet.
On the 28th, a video titled “K-gyaru girl Mi-joo (feat. gyaru makeup)” was released on the YouTube channel ‘Just Lee Mi-joo’. In the video, Lee Mi-joo visited a studio in Hongdae and took on a full ‘onee gyaru’ styling. The studio was packed with outfits and accessories steeped in gyaru sensibility, and even custom pieces and outfits had been prepared for her.
While looking through the outfits, Lee Mi-joo said, “So pretty. Am I going to end up falling for (gyaru) like this?” showing her excitement. Even before getting any makeup, she put on gyaru hair pieces and kept bursting into laughter as if pleased with the look. The studio owner explained, “There is sexy gyaru, and there is high-school gyaru. (Lee Mi-joo) is the onee gyaru style,” emphasizing how perfectly it matched her image.

Once the full styling began, Lee Mi-joo completed a gyaru look with makeup, outfit, and hair, presenting a completely different vibe.
After finishing the styling, she stepped outside the studio in Hongdae to gauge public reactions. Some people showed interest, offering compliments like “So pretty,” but unlike the ‘hot response’ she had anticipated, most passed by without much attention.
Lee Mi-joo quipped, “I did not know literally no one would be interested in me like this. Seriously, Hongdae is not it. People cannot be this indifferent,” sharing candid impressions that drew laughs.

Online reaction, however, was explosive. Once the video was released, online communities and social media were flooded with praise such as “I have never seen a celebrity who suits gyaru makeup this well,” “At this level, it is a talent.
