SBS’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Kiss for No Reason!’
‘Kiss for No Reason!’ Jang Ki-yong suffers a fever of love.
The SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Kiss for No Reason!’ (screenplay by Ha Yoon-a, Tae Kyung-min/directed by Kim Jae-hyun, Kim Hyun-woo/produced by Studio S, Samhwa Networks) is showcasing a thrilling love quadrangle and drawing an explosive response both at home and abroad. The four leads’ emotionsat once fluttery and comic, heart-racing and tenderboost immersion. At the center is Gong Ji-hyeok (played by Jang Ki-yong), who embodies the complete package of a rom-com male lead.
Gong Ji-hyeok fell in love after a ‘natural-disaster-level’ kiss with Go Da-rim (played by Ahn Eun-jin). But the Go Da-rim who had vanished without a trace reappeared as a mom and as a member of his team. In truth, Go Da-rim is a single woman who has never even married, let alone given birth, and she took on a disguised job to make ends meet. Unaware of this, Gong Ji-hyeok feels an irresistible pull toward the reunited Go Da-rim, yet he forces himself to keep his feelings tightly in check.
Then Gong Ji-hyeok witnessed a kiss between Kim Sun-woo (played by Kim Moo-jun) and Yu Ha-young (played by Woo Da-bi). Since Gong Ji-hyeok believes Kim Sun-woo is Go Da-rim’s husband, it looks like an affair between the two. Just then, Go Da-rim collapsed in front of him. Carrying her on his back, Gong Ji-hyeok rushed to the emergency room and thought he wanted to protect her himself. The Episode 6 ending, where Gong Ji-hyeok realized his feelings for Go Da-rim, reportedly set off viewers’ dopamine and screams.
Meanwhile, on December 2, the ‘Kiss for No Reason!’ production team hinted, “In Episodes 7 and 8 airing this week, Gong Ji-hyeok will be laid low by a fever brought on by an uncontrollable love for Go Da-rim,” stoking avid viewers’ interest.
In the photos released together, Gong Ji-hyeok is seen late at night visiting the ‘Grandfather Tree’ from the memories Go Da-rim once spoke of. Staring vacantly at the tree, Gong Ji-hyeok suddenly seems to spot something and hides his body behind it. Though he normally allows not even the slightest disorder, here his tie is slightly loosened for some reason. The look in his eyes, rippling with complex emotions such as tenderness and regret, sends a tingling ache to the viewer’s heart.
Regarding this, the ‘Kiss for No Reason!’ production team said, “After realizing his love for Go Da-rim, Gong Ji-hyeok goes through an enormous emotional maelstrom. Actor Jang Ki-yong captured Gong Ji-hyeok’s feelings dramatically with a performance of great range. Please look forward to what choice Gong Ji-hyeok will make amid a fever of love so hot it seems to burn both his head and heart, and how that choice will affect the heartsick romance he harbors for Go Da-rim.”
Jang Ki-yong’s tender fever of love, sure to set hearts fluttering once again, can be seen in Episode 7 of the SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama ‘Kiss for No Reason!’, airing at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3.
