The U.S. Billboard charts have fallen in love with HYBE and Geffen Records’ global girl group KATSEYE.
According to the latest charts (dated December 6) released by Billboard on the 2nd (KST hereafter), the track ‘Gabriela(Gabriela)’ from KATSEYE’s second EP ‘Beautiful Chaos(BEAUTIFUL CHAOS)’ ranked No. 41 on the ‘Hot 100’.
Even with holiday season songs heavily occupying the upper ranks of the ‘Hot 100’, KATSEYE’s momentum is formidable. It has spent a cumulative 19 weeks on the chart. Except for the OSTs ‘Golden(Golden)’ (23 weeks) and ‘How It’s Done(How It’s Done)’ (22 weeks), and ‘Takedown(Takedown)’ (20 weeks) performed by the virtual idol Huntrix from Netflix’s popular animated series ‘Kpop Demon Hunters’, no song by a real girl group this year has remained longer on the ‘Hot 100’ than ‘Gabriela’.
The EP containing ‘Gabriela’, ‘Beautiful Chaos’, is also displaying a steady presence on Billboard’s album charts. This week, ‘Beautiful Chaos’ sits at No. 33 on the ‘Billboard 200’. After peaking at No. 4 earlier, it has charted for 22 consecutive weeks. On ‘Top Album Sales’ and ‘Top Current Album Sales’, which tally physical album sales, the EP ranked No. 12 and No. 11, respectively.
Their first EP released last year, ‘SIS(Soft Is Strong)’, is also being rediscovered, joining the ‘Billboard 200’ at No. 98. For a record released a year and three months ago, its placements at No. 17 on ‘Top Album Sales’ and No. 15 on ‘Top Current Album Sales’ are exceptional. KATSEYE’s rising popularity is boosting even back-catalog sales.
Meanwhile, ‘Gabriela’ has climbed not only on U.S. Billboard but also to No. 38 on the UK Official Chart (dated October 18) and No. 10 on Spotify’s ‘Weekly Top Songs Global’ (dated October 3). In addition, it was included among 100 songs in Apple Music editors’ recently announced ‘Best Songs of 2025(Best Songs of 2025)’, earning recognition for both musicality and popularity.
Born under Chairman Bang Si-hyuk’s ‘K-pop methodology’, KATSEYE debuted in the United States last June after going through HYBE America’s systematic T&D(Training&Development) system. They were nominated in two categories at the 68th Grammy Awards(Grammy Awards), to be held on February 1 next year: ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Performance’.
