MBC new daily drama ‘The First Man’ has unveiled a main poster that foreshadows the entangled destinies of five characters, each with a distinct color.
Set to premiere on December 15 (Mon), MBC new daily drama ‘The First Man’ (Planning Jang Jae-hoon/ Director Kang Tae-heum/ Writers Seo Hyun-ju, An Jin-young/ Production MBC C&I, DK Entertainment) draws attention by releasing a main poster that powerfully captures overwhelming tension and an unpredictable narrative. ‘The First Man’ depicts a deadly showdown between a woman who comes to live the life of another person for revenge and a woman who steals the life of another person for desire. As daily drama master writer Seo Hyun-ju presents it as the definitive installment of the number series following ‘Second Husband’ and ‘Third Marriage’, it signals immersive, dopamine-sparking storytelling that promises to be impossible to escape once you start, further raising expectations.
The newly revealed main poster delivers a strong impact, showing at a glance the complex relationships through the crossed gazes and sharply contrasting moods of five figures arranged within a triangular composition. Among them, the presence of Ham Eun-jung, in a red leather jacket with an unwavering gaze, dominates attention. As if embodying determination for revenge against Chae Hwa-yeong (played by Oh Hyun-kyung), who intertwined the fates of Oh Jang-mi and her twin sister Ma Seorin, her confident and strong eyes leave a deep impression. In particular, her look suggests both the supremely resilient realist Oh Jang-mi and the imperious chaebol granddaughter Ma Seorin, heightening anticipation for Ham Eun-jung's dual-role performance.
Oh Hyun-kyung, exuding an untouchable aura, appears to have fully absorbed the character Chae Hwa-yeong. Chae Hwa-yeong is the ultimate villain who takes what she wants by any means necessary. Standing at the apex of the triangular pyramid composition in the poster, she radiates suffocating charisma; behind an elegant pure white dress, she hides molten-lava desire and shoots a gaze filled with venom, symbolizing monumental evil by presence alone. Curiosity about the unprecedented villainy that Oh Hyun-kyung will present grows by the day.
Alongside this, Ham Eun-jung, Yoon Sun-woo, Park Geon-il, and Kim Min-seol delicately capture the intertwined relationships of four men and women, making it even more intriguing. Kang Baek-ho (played by Yoon Sun-woo) and Kang Jun-ho (played by Park Geon-il), who stand as if solidly guarding either side of Oh Jang-mi, draw the eye with contrasting moods between the two brothers. Kang Baek-ho, with a neat black suit and a faint smile, embodies the textbook definition of a warmhearted, handsome man. His gentle, warm gaze, befitting a good-natured lawyer who spreads bright energy, reveals his genuine love for Oh Jang-mi and showcases Kang Baek-ho's tender charm without filter.
By contrast, Kang Jun-ho, a perfectionist who is a former Michelin three-star chef, expresses his signature ice-cold aura with a cool and chic expression. Even his stance, held with flawless discipline and precision, hints at his style, and it raises expectations for how the divergent romantic fates of the two brothers with opposite styles will unfold. In addition, the meaningful expression of Jin Hong-ju (played by Kim Min-seol), who seems to stand at the opposite pole from Oh Jang-mi and radiates an intense gaze, is impressive. From her unwavering love for Kang Baek-ho to jealousy and hatred toward Oh Jang-mi, the complex emotions make the character feel even more three-dimensional.
Above all, the copy line ‘Every sin pays a price’ clearly conveys the core message of the drama and leaves a strong afterglow. The fates of twins reversed by the chilling desire of Chae Hwa-yeong, the desperate revenge of Oh Jang-mi, and the unpredictable romances entangling the two brothers and Jin Hong-ju together stoke curiosity and maximize tension.
In this way, through the new main poster, ‘The First Man’ strongly heralds the relationships of five characters, five colors, where desire and revenge, love and betrayal are entangled around the reversed fates of twin sisters. With an addictive plot that pulls you in at once, dopamine-sparking thrills, and actors who perfectly inhabit their roles, anticipation is already peaking for the overwhelming immersion ‘The First Man’ will deliver to living rooms.
Meanwhile, MBC new daily drama ‘The First Man’ will premiere on December 15 (Mon), following ‘The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun’.
