JK Kim Dong-wook criticizes the Coupang hacking incident
On the 30th, he points to visa-free entry for Chinese nationals

JK Kim Dong-wook (John Kim) expressed anger over the Coupang hacking incident.
On the 30th of last month, JK Kim Dong-wook wrote on the social networking service (SNS) Instagram, “The (Coupang) employee who leaked large amounts of Coupang data is a holder of Chinese nationality and has already left Korea.”
He added, “Crimes like this keep occurring, yet regarding visa-free entry for Chinese nationals, are the clueless kids still not going to come to their senses!”
JK Kim Dong-wook appears to have shown discomfort over the leak of customer information of more than 30 million Coupang users.
According to the Cyber Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, on the 25th of last month it received a complaint from Coupang regarding this incident and launched an investigation into the personal information leak.
Coupang is said to have confirmed so far that 33.7 million customer accounts were leaked. This is effectively believed to be the entirety of Coupang accounts. The leaked information includes customer names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, and some order information.
The possibility is growing that this massive customer data leak at Coupang was the work of a former employee of Chinese nationality who had already left the company.
According to police and Coupang, after leaving the company and going abroad, the employee sent an email to the company stating, “I possess members’ personal information” and “If you do not strengthen security, I will inform the media of the leak.” It is reported that no monetary demand was made.
Korean Canadian JK Kim Dong-wook has recently been pouring out strong political statements online, actively supporting former President Yoon Suk-yeol and defending the 12·3 unlawful martial law incident.
He harshly criticized singers and actors who took part in performances calling for the impeachment of Yoon Suk-yeol, and he was also accused on charges of spreading false information for “repeatedly disseminating baseless conspiracy theories, such as denying that President Lee Jae-myung and President Donald Trump had a phone call or claiming that the G7 invitation was fake news.”
