Electronic music pioneers “Kraftwerk (Kraftwerk)” will return to Korea next May with a solo concert.
Formed in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider, the multimedia project “Kraftwerk,” based at the Kling Klang Studio in Düsseldorf, has released monumental albums that defined electronic music across generations, including [Autobahn] (1974), [Radio-Activity] (1975), [Trans-Europe Express] (1977), [The Man-Machine] (1978), [Computer World] (1981), [Techno Pop] (1986), [The Mix] (1991), and [Tour de France] (2003).
Their unprecedented sounds using computer technology and their forward-looking vision earned worldwide acclaim, and Kraftwerk are regarded as pioneers who laid the foundations of digital music and the first artists to popularize the electronic music genre.
Their works, which innovatively employ synthesized vocals, computerized rhythms, and electronic instruments, have profoundly influenced numerous artists and a wide spectrum of contemporary genres, including synth-pop, hip-hop, post-punk, techno, house music, ambient, and club music.

In 2014 the Recording Academy presented Kraftwerk with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and the album [Autobahn] was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. In addition, the 2017 live album [3-D The Catalogue] won the “Best Dance/Electronic Album” category at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, and in 2021 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the ‘Early Influences’ category.
Combining electronic music, computer animation, and performance art, Kraftwerk’s concerts are regarded as a comprehensive work of art (Gesamtkunstwerk) that reflects modern civilization. At their Korea concerts in 2013 and 2019, they presented a new form of performance that spatialized and visualized sound through the band’s “Man-Machine” concept and visuals employing 3D glasses, eliciting enthusiastic responses from audiences.
As a continuation of the ‘Multimedia Tour,’ which began at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA) in 2012 and has continued to evolve, this performance will deliver a further-evolved audiovisual experience. Through a live production that blends digital installation art with immersive 3D visuals, it will reconfigure selections from Kraftwerk’s monumental albums to suit a new generation.
Kraftwerk’s Seoul concert will take place at 8:00 p.m. on May 4, 2026, at Myeonghwa Live Hall. Tickets will be available from 12:00 p.m. on December 10 through the official vendor, NOL Ticket.
