The ‘5th-generation hot rookie’ ifeye has been unveiling back-to-back cover content that maximizes each member’s individuality and emotion, clearly proving their ‘six members, six colors’ vocal appeal.
ifeye (Kasia, Rahee, Won Hwayeon, Sasha, Taerin, Miyu) released customized cover videos for each member, starting with Miyu on October 17 and up to Kasia on December 4. The six members are reinventing the originals with distinct timbres, earning rave reviews from listeners.
Kicking things off, Miyu showcased a plain yet warm vocal sensibility through IU’s ‘Bye, Summer’. Miyu’s lyrical tone, which delicately layers emotional arcs, left a deep afterglow and drew reactions calling her a “master of emotion”. Next, Hwayeon reinterpreted Choi Yena’s ‘Love War’ in her own colors. A low, powerful tone, rich emotional expression, and a chic ease solidly filled out the song’s narrative, further expanding her vocal spectrum.
The youngest, Sasha, chose Taeyeon’s ‘11:11’, presenting a calm yet deeply emotive vocal. Her clear tone and relaxed breath control blended to delicately preserve the original’s atmosphere while her warm voice asserted her presence. Rahee unfolded Rose’s ‘toxic till the end’ in her own style, even adding live guitar to showcase another facet of her charm.
Taerin delivered Younha’s ‘Oort Cloud’ with explosive energy, flaunting vocals in full bloom. The crisp punch in the high notes and the strong energy driving the entire track stood out, revealing a charisma distinct from her group activities.
Closing the cover series, Kasia selected Elijah Woods’ ‘24/7, 365’. Grounded in trendy, tasteful pop vocals, she led with a soft tone to express the song’s sentiment in her own style. In addition, the scene of the members calling the original singer’s name at the end of the track and shouting “We love you” drew attention as a fan-hearted highlight.
ifeye’s cover content series has maximized each member’s vocal capability and musical color, once again reaffirming the team’s vocal polish. Fans, too, are responding enthusiastically, saying things like “All six have different timbres and they’re charming” and “I’m newly surprised at how good every member’s vocals are.”
Meanwhile, ifeye wrapped up promotions for the title track ‘r u ok?’ from their second mini-album ‘Wave ‘Nang’ Pt.2 ‘sweet tang (Sweet Tang)’ on a high note and have begun preparing for their next comeback.
