BLACKPINK’s Lisa is venturing into acting. She will do so through the Netflix film ‘Taigo’.
On the 5th, Netflix announced via its official social media that production of the Netflix original film ‘Taigo’ is underway. According to Netflix, “ ‘Taigo’ is a film that depicts a real-action mission undertaken by Taigo (Ma Dong-seok), a mercenary who grew up as a war orphan, to rescue Lia (Lisa), who has been abducted.”
The cast announced so far includes Ma Dong-seok, Lee Jin-wook, and BLACKPINK’s Lisa. ‘Taigo’ is known as the first spin-off set in the world of the film ‘Extraction’, and it has been drawing global interest even before release. The original ‘Extraction’ is an action rescue drama about a former special-forces-operator-turned mercenary who confronts a powerful crime organization to save a client’s son abducted in the world’s most dangerous city.

The megaphone will be held by director Lee Sang-yong, who helmed ‘Crime City 2’ and ‘Crime City 3’. Having previously teamed up with Lee in the ‘Crime City’ series, Ma Dong-seok is heightening expectations that he will once again showcase his signature, exhilarating action as he appears as the mercenary Taigo and undertakes the rescue of the kidnapped Lia.
With this casting, BLACKPINK’s Lisa will attempt acting for the first time since her debut. As fellow member Jennie pursued acting in the U.S. HBO drama ‘The Idol’, and Jisoo also made her mark in the film ‘Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint’ and on Coupang Play’s ‘Newtopia’, Lisa is expected to present another facet of her acting through this project.
