■ The ‘healing capital of China,’ where a two-thousand-year forest breathes
Located in northwestern Jiangxi Province, Yichun is called the ‘city of health and healing’ thanks to a forest history spanning more than 2,000 years and a high ratio of mountainous terrain. While Jiangxi has a total population of about 46 million, Yichun’s population is around 5.4 million, making it a relatively small city; remarkably, however, it draws over 20 million tourists annuallyfour times the city’s population.
Among domestic tourists in China, Yichun has already established itself as a ‘mecca of health travel,’ yet it remains a little-known, unexplored destination for Koreans. Recently, its profile has been rising quickly as a city equipped with core elements of the wellness industry, including a rich forest ecosystem, traditional healing culture, and internationally certified hot-spring resources.
