As allegations arose that comedian Park Na-rae engaged in abuse of power toward her former managers, she indicated that she had been receiving monetary demands amounting to several hundred million won from them and stated that she would take legal action.
On the 4th, within the entertainment industry, it became known that the former managers had signaled a damages lawsuit against Park Na-rae and applied to the court for a provisional attachment of real estate, triggering controversy.
On the 5th, Park Na-rae agency Npark issued a statement, saying, “Ms. Park Na-rae is suffering a heavy psychological burden and mental shock due to the sudden resignations of staff who worked with her, ensuing groundless claims, growing demands for money and valuables, and pressure through the media.”
The agency claimed that after working for one year and three months, they demanded additional monetary compensation beyond severance pay. Npark stated, “Even after receiving severance pay, they additionally demanded an amount equivalent to 10% of revenue from the previous year,” and added, “The amount demanded gradually increased, reaching the scale of several hundred million won.”
It also said, “With unnecessary misunderstandings and pressure continuing, we can no longer be dragged by one-sided demands,” and, “After legal review, we decided to take necessary legal action.”
Regarding the allegations of ‘abuse of power’, including verbal abuse, that they raised, it stated that it is “verifying the exact facts” and will “thoroughly clarify matters going forward and faithfully carry out necessary measures.”
As for the agency’s registration delay for the popular culture and arts planning business, which was pointed out along with the ‘abuse of power allegations’, it explained that this was work handled by the former managers and that the issue arose because they submitted false reports.
On the same day, Park Na-rae was reported and booked by police on charges including aggravated injury and violations of the Medical Service Act·Pop Culture Industry Act.
