Yeom Kyung-hwan addressed the rumor that he is a ‘30 billion won building owner’.
Airing on the 6th, KBS2 ‘Immortal Songs’ Episode 734 is a ‘Show Host King of Singers’ special, with six teams taking the stage: Yeom Kyung-hwan, Dong Ji-hyun, Kim Ji-hye&Kim Hye-rin, Ahn Sun-young, Lee Min-woong, and Lee Chan-seok.
That day, Yeom Kyung-hwan said, “People these days believe fake news. They say I am a building owner worth around 30 billion won.” Ahn Sun-young chimed in, “Right, they say it is three imported cars.”
Yeom Kyung-hwan said, “But if that were true, when ‘Immortal Songs’ called me, would I not have said, ‘Should I not be practicing singing for that?’” and explained, “(As for the appearance fee) it is the same even if it sells out, and the same even if hardly anything sells. Because I am paid an appearance fee, even if 1 billion or 2 billion won worth is sold, it is not my money.”
He said that when his broadcast schedule is heavy, he goes up to 130 in a month, adding, “When it was really a lot, it was about that. My schedule is booked through next June.” To this, Ahn Sun-young added, “Because he has so many schedules he cannot sleep, he chews Cheongyang chili peppers while driving,” and “He even intentionally slots food shows in between to take care of meals.”
Meanwhile, Yeom Kyung-hwan previously appeared on a program and candidly confessed his financial situation, saying that he had debt due to a business failure but repaid it all. He said, “My appearance fee has not gone up even 10 won for over ten years. I would like to raise it too, but when I meet with companies for a drink, the conversation starts with a sigh,” and continued, “I am the one who should ask (to raise the fee), but is it not better for me as well that the company continues? What would I do with a few extra bucks? When we have a staff dinner, I even pick up the tab for the drinks.”
