JTBC Sat-Sun drama “Waiting for Kyung-do”

Park Seo-joon’s unbearably lovable first love, Won Ji-an, has returned.

In episode 1 of JTBC’s Sat-Sun drama “Waiting for Kyung-do” (written by Yoo Young-ah/ directed by Lim Hyun-wook/ produced by SLL, Aien, Geulmwe), which aired on the 6th (Sat), the disjointed love story of Lee Kyung-do (Park Seo-joon) and Seo Ji-woo (Won Ji-an), who reunited due to the butterfly effect triggered by an exclusive, unfolded and announced the birth of a new life romance.

After uploading a scandal piece that the son-in-law of Jarim Apparel and husband of his first love, Seo Ji-woo, had committed adultery, Lee Kyung-do was hit by the backlash. He had not expected to be reminded of a relationship ended long ago in such a way. A vortex of complicated emotions surrounded him.

Then Seo Ji-woo appeared before him. Contrary to his expectation that she would at least curse him out, she thanked him, saying that thanks to him she had been able to divorce her husband. She then tossed him an exclusive source, saying, “You write my divorce article.”

At a single phone call saying she wanted to see him, he would hurry over, hold her, and soothe her; his gentle embrace was nothing short of a warm refuge to Seo Ji-woo. What reason could have led two people who breathed the overwhelming warmth of love into each other to part ways? Curiosity about Lee Kyung-do and Seo Ji-woo’s story is growing.

In this way, “Waiting for Kyung-do” gifted viewers with a spectrum of feelings through the fated romance of two people who profoundly influenced each other’s lives. The flutter of Lee Kyung-do and Seo Ji-woo first meeting and nurturing love, the confusion from an unexpected reunion, and even the resentment and anger toward the one who broke a promise and left, along with the longingthe varied temperatures of emotion captivated the eye.

Above all, writer Yoo Young-ah’s signature, flavorful lines and the actors’ seamless, passionate performances stood out. The romantic chemistry of Park Seo-joon and Won Ji-an, portraying the lively back-and-forth between Lee Kyung-do and Seo Ji-woo, summoned memories of first love asleep in everyone’s minds and deepened the wistfulness.

On top of that, director Lim Hyun-wook’s beautiful visuals that bring out the texture of each season doubled the unique sensibility of “Waiting for Kyung-do.” Music that reflects the times and an emotive OST maximized the characters’ feelings and captivated viewers’ ears. As such, the next story of “Waiting for Kyung-do,” which is achieving a fantastic harmony of acting, direction, script, and music, is even more eagerly awaited.
