On ‘Pro Bono’, Sung Dong-il takes the bench.
In Episode 2 of the tvN Sat-Sun drama ‘Pro Bono’ (written by Moon Yoo-seok/ directed by Kim Sung-yoon/ planned by Studio Dragon/ produced by Sequence One, Lotte Cultureworks, Studio Flow), airing tonight (7th) at 9:10 p.m., actor Sung Dong-il makes a surprise appearance as Senior Judge Choi Ho-jip and witnesses firsthand the debut case of public-interest lawyer Kang Da-wit (Jung Kyung-ho).
After the mysterious apple box case puts his legal career at risk, Kang Da-wit is assigned as leader of the pro bono team with help from his law school classmate Oh Jung-in (Lee Yoo-young), the new head of O&Partners, beginning a new life as a public-interest lawyer. However, for someone who, as a judge, had handled only large cases, public-interest litigation is entirely unfamiliar. To make matters worse, the courtroom for his first case is slated to be overseen by Senior Judge Choi Ho-jip (Sung Dong-il), notorious in legal circles for a prickly disposition, drawing attention to his first pleading.
As interest mounts over whether Kang Da-wit can take his first step as a public-interest lawyer without a hitch, the released photos capture him stepping into his first argument and draw the eye. A faintly uneasy air on his face as he sits at the counsel table foreshadows a difficult hearing.
In particular, Senior Judge Choi Ho-jip, seated at the center of the courtroom, heightens the tension with a sullen expression and a slanted posture. When he keeps a sharp watch on Kang Da-wit at the lectern, his gaze grows even keener, adding curiosity about what judgment he will render on the argument made by Kang Da-wit.
Above all, expectations are high for actor Sung Dong-il, who has been loved for leaving a singular presence in every project. With his signature everyday naturalism and realistic expressiveness, he is set to create solid synergy with Jung Kyung-ho as Kang Da-wit and deliver memorable courtroom scenes.
The ‘Pro Bono’ production team said, “Episode 2 will further maximize the fun with taut courtroom chemistry between Jung Kyung-ho and Sung Dong-il,” adding, “Please look forward to a variety of special appearances in subsequent episodes.”
