KBS Joy ‘Ask Us Anything, Fortune Teller’
On KBS Joy ‘Ask Us Anything, Fortune Teller’ episode 343, airing tonight (the 8th) at 8:30 p.m., a guest who miraculously survived and later remarried shares her story, saying she has been tormented by habitual verbal and physical abuse by her husband.
Her husband was sentenced to one year and six months for domestic violence and was recently released from prison, and she confides that she is pursuing an uncontested divorce but he keeps delaying it.
She says that after a difficult first marriage due to a child custody dispute, she became dependent on alcohol and suffered a fall from the 11th floor of an apartment. Despite the doctor stating, “prepare yourself for the worst,” she miraculously survived; although told she would not be able to walk, she lived with a disability but, after rehabilitation, became able to walk again. She explains that she grew close to her current husband while playing online games during her rehabilitation, and, along with her family’s encouragement, ended up remarrying.

However, married life soon became hell. She became pregnant after four months, but because her whole body had been injured in the fall, the hospital told her, “From about six months, the pain in your pelvis will be tremendous.” When, frightened, she asked her husband, “Can it not be enough for just the two of us to be happy?”, he smashed his fist into her mouth, tearing the inside of her mouth; this was the beginning, and after the birth she says she was assaulted for 20 minutes for using disability benefits to pay for games. While running a fried chicken shop, over a single delivery mistake she was subjected to the abuse, “Do you have udon noodles in your head?”, and the ensuing beating left her with a fractured lumbar spine, to the point that she had to be hospitalized.
The decisive incident unfolded in the emergency room. While she was receiving an IV nutritional supplement at the hospital because she felt unwell, her husband came, saying, “Are you telling me and the f**king kid to starve?”, “I am coming right now, so stay where you are. I will kill you,” closed the curtain, and continued to beat her. Reported by a nurse, he was arrested and received a one-year-and-six-month sentence; however, she says his release was expedited because she submitted a statement of non-punishment. She expresses anxiety, saying that since his release, threatening messages have continued to arrive.

In response, Seo Jang-hoon fumes, saying, “Heaven clearly warned you, but you kept ignoring it,” “You should have ended it the first time he punched you in the mouth,” “I am so shocked I am at a loss for words. Using violence against a pregnant person, and how hard did he stomp on you for your lumbar spine to break?” Lee Soo-geun likewise stresses, “This is not human. As hard as it is, endure it well and seek advice from professionals; there are people who can show you a shortcut, so do not agonize alone.”
Seo Jang-hoon also adds, “There is a divorce specialist attorney. Meet directly, consult, and resolve this legally,” and, “Value yourself. You have gained a precious new life, so do not meet just anyone carelessly and do things like this.”
