On this day, Leeseo appeared with a Santa-girl concept ahead of Christmas, introduced K-pop stages with adorable reactions, and at the end of the show delivered a final greeting to viewers, announcing her MC graduation.
Taking on her first music-show MC role through ‘Inkigayo’ in April last year, Leeseo filled Sunday afternoons with bright energy through her variety sense and deft hosting, earning great love from viewers. Alongside this, she perfectly pulled off the weekly concept outfits and skit acting, showcasing fantastic chemistry and proving her all-around versatility.
Leeseo’s 1 year and 7 months as MC were, in a word, ‘growth’ itself. She flawlessly learned the signature choreography of returning artists and performed it together with them, fully displaying her solid performance skills, which soon led to the moniker ‘K-pop challenge vending machine’. In addition, she was active as the snack-bar owner on the ‘Inkigayo’ spin-off web variety ‘After ‘Inkigayo’ Ends, Let’s Go to the Snack Bar’, keeping up a lively, witty back-and-forth with seniors and juniors alike, through which Leeseo amply proved her qualities as an ‘all-around entertainer’.
After finishing her final ‘Inkigayo’ broadcast, Leeseo said through her agency Starship Entertainment, “First of all, I sincerely thank DIVE (the official fan club name) and the viewers of ‘Inkigayo’ who loved MC Leeseo,” adding, “One of my long-held dreams was to try being a music-show MC, and I was truly happy to be able to achieve that dream on ‘Inkigayo’.”
She continued, “As I have grown a lot by building valuable experiences through ‘Inkigayo’, I hope you will watch to see how IVE’s Leeseo continues to grow from here. I would like to once again express my thanks to everyone who loved MC Leeseo.”
IVE, the group Leeseo belongs to, captured the public’s hearts this year with a range of musical attempts, starting with the pre-release track ‘REBEL HEART’ from their third mini album, followed by the title track ‘ATTITUDE’, and the fourth mini album’s title track ‘XOXZ’ released in August. In particular, through their third mini album ‘IVE EMPATHY’, IVE evoked empathy among listeners worldwide by expanding their perspective from ‘me’ to ‘us’ while keeping ‘self-assurance’.
From October 31 to November 2, IVE successfully opened their second world tour ‘SHOW WHAT I AM’ at KSPO DOME, and recently announced a confirmed world tour stop at Japan’s ‘Kyocera Dome Osaka’, continuing active global activities.
With her ‘Inkigayo’ MC journey concluded, Leeseo is expected to continue broader activities at the end of the year as a member of IVE.
