Comedian Park Na-rae has announced yet another statement amid a renewed dispute over the truth.
According to a report by Xportsnews on the 10th, a representative for Park Na-rae said regarding allegations of a false explanation, “We plan to announce our stance again soon. We are organizing our position” and added, “We intend to clarify our position on all sorts of allegations, including the ‘injection aunt’ issue and embezzlement.”
On the afternoon of the 9th, the former manager who exposed allegations such as abuse of power by Park Na-rae said in a phone call with Channel A, “It is true that I spoke with Park Na-rae for about three hours, but I did not receive an apology, and there was no agreement between the parties.”
He said, “‘When we said, ‘Have we not endured a lot for a month? We cannot do this anymore,’ Park Na-rae said, ‘Then let us sue,’” and added, “I was dumbfounded to see the statement say that the misunderstanding had been resolved. I felt she met me in order to issue a statement. It appears to be an attempt to buy time to sway public opinion somehow.”
Earlier, regarding claims conveyed by former managersaggravated injury, verbal abuse, proxy prescriptions, and workplace harassmentPark Na-rae countered that the managers demanded the previous year’s sales “10%” even after receiving severance pay, and later stated, “By meeting face to face with a former manager, we were able to resolve misunderstandings and distrust.”
However, the former manager’s side fully refuted this, giving rise to suspicions of a false explanation.
In addition, Park Na-rae faces allegations of embezzlement and violations of medical law. Former managers claimed that she falsely listed her mother and ex-boyfriend as agency employees and paid them 55 million won and a little over 44 million won, respectively, over 11 months. They first filed criminal complaints against Park Na-rae for aggravated injury, defamation by asserting false facts, and violations of the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation), and additionally reported her for violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement).
Furthermore, after reports that she received medical treatment from the so-called ‘injection aunt’ A, Im Hyun-taek, president of the Korean Pediatric Association, requested an investigation for co-principal liability, citing allegations that A violated the Medical Service Act and the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act and committed fraud, and that Park Na-rae abetted illegal medical practice.
Park Na-rae is currently saying, “I have decided to suspend broadcasting activities until everything is neatly resolved,” and has stepped down from all programs, fully halting her activities.
