On the tvN X TVNIG short drama curation ‘Housekeeper’ aired on the 9th, Kang Na-eon took on the role of Mijin and delicately unraveled a complex emotional arc. ‘Housekeeper’ is a drama that depicts an unpredictable shift in relationships caused by a mysterious housekeeper who enters the lives of two friends who meant everything to each other.
In the story, Mijin is practical and capable, but because of the childhood wound of being abandoned by her parents, she rarely opens her heart to people other than Sang-mi (played by Yoon Sang-Jeong), who came from the same orphanage.
In the episode, Mijin and Sang-mi, who grew up together at the orphanage and became nurses side by side, live together, but their contrasting daily rhythms create subtle cracks that draw attention. As the chores pile up, Sang-mi brings in the housekeeper Hyeon-nam (played by Jang Young-Nam), and full-fledged conflict begins.
However, Mijin cannot hide her discomfort at seeing Sang-mi grow close to Hyeon-nam, and, worried that Sang-mi might once again open her heart too easily to someone, she becomes guarded. In the end, Mijin even lies to drive Hyeon-nam away and succeeds in separating Sang-mi and Hyeon-nam, but the more she does so, the farther she drifts from Sang-mi, becoming consumed by extreme anxiety and confusion in their misaligned relationship.
Kang Na-eon captured the wounds and anxiety hidden behind a plucky exterior through the tremble in her eyes, shifts in breathing, and surging tears, densely completing the character’s inner life. With added emotional depth, she meticulously portrayed Mijin’s anxiety, tenderness, and near-obsessive attachment, firmly anchoring the drama at its center. In particular, Kang Na-eon once again proved herself a noteworthy rising talent by drawing viewers into complete immersion with her superb emotional command.
Debuting with the 2022 drama ‘Blind’, Kang Na-eon left a strong impression on the public through ‘Ilta Scandal’, and has since expanded her range across various genres such as ‘Wedding Impossible’, ‘Pyramid Game’, and ‘Zero Period Is Insider Time’, broadening her acting spectrum.
