‘UDT: Our Neighborhood Special Forces’ broadcast capture
Actor Jin Sun-kyu steered the narrative and entertainment of ‘UDT: Our Neighborhood Special Forces’ with solid acting.
In Episode 8 of the Coupang Play X Genie TV original series ‘UDT: Our Neighborhood Special Forces’, the revelation that politician Na Eun-jae (played by Lee Bong-ryeon) was under a terror threat rapidly turned the case in a new direction.
With Choi Kang (Yoon Kye-sang) attempting to handle the situation alone and Kwak Byeong-nam (Jin Sun-kyu) worrying about reckless solo action, the conflict between the characters became clear.
Pointing out the way Choi Kang was responding, Kwak Byeong-nam took a realistic stance that the situation needed to be set right, asking whether he had more than nine lives and whether he intended to save all the townspeople by himself. This scene showed what kind of person Kwak Byeong-nam is within the drama world.

He then informed the villagers of the situation and restricted movement, taking practical measures as he moved into crisis response. Even as the incident expanded quickly, he coolly carried out the necessary tasks, playing a role in modulating the tension.
In the latter part, a rooftop bomb scene that maximized the tension unfolded. When Choi Kang was left unable to move, Byeong-nam braved the danger, charged into the scene, and turned the situation around.
Just before the explosion, the moment where he shoved Choi Kang away with a dropkick to pull him out of danger revealed the decisiveness of Kwak Byeong-nam. The ending, in which he saved Choi Kang and vanished into the blast, was a moment of self-sacrifice that delivered front-row chills and shock to home viewers while leaving his fate impossible to gauge.
Amid a tangle of tension and fear, Jin Sun-kyu steadily portrayed Byeong-nam, fully realizing the character function and meaning within the narrative. From emotions that followed the flow of events to late-stage action, he rendered the character presence with density across multiple scenes. The convincing portrayal of Byeong-nam choices and ensuing actions in the crisis tightened the story and generated momentum for what comes next. In addition, his performance amplified curiosity about what change he will drive in Episode 9, where the conflict structure has grown even more complex.
