Actor Lee Mi-do showcased an overwhelming presence with a realistic tearful performance.
In the OTT Netflix series ‘The Price of Confession’, released on the 5th, Lee Mi-do plays ‘Mun-jun’, a friend who firmly stays by Ahn Yoon-su (played by Jeon Do-yeon), and she is earning favorable reviews by depicting a multi-dimensional side agonizing between friendship and reality.
‘The Price of Confession’ is a mystery thriller about Ahn Yoon-su, who is driven as a suspect for killing her husband, and Mo-eun (played by Kim Go-eun), an enigmatic figure called a witch, and what unfolds between these two people full of secrets.
First appearing in the bridal waiting room of Ahn Yoon-su, Mun-jun left an affectionate video letter for the couple and, after catching the bouquet, flaunted their best-friend chemistry. Soon after, when Ahn Yoon-su was detained on charges of murdering her husband, he showed unwavering loyalty, saying, “I am on your side no matter what.”
Mun-jun also looked after the daughter of Ahn Yoon-su, Sopi. However, once Ahn Yoon-su was branded a murderer and even his own son learned of it, he had no choice but to send Sopi to an orphanage. Visiting Ahn Yoon-su, Mun-jun, wracked with guilt over being unable to help his friend, tearfully poured out his apology. By desperately and harrowingly depicting a human figure collapsing before the wall of reality, Mun-jun even moved viewers to tears.
Afterward, Mun-jun kept his loyalty through actions rather than words, cleaning her house, stocking the refrigerator, and more. Smiling and crying for Ahn Yoon-su, he became more than a friend, another family member she could lean on at any time.
Lee Mi-do perfectly embodied a multi-dimensional character who does not lose her warm nature even amid a cold reality, proving herself a ‘master of acting’. Her uniquely realistic performance, like someone who could truly exist around us, played a key role in increasing the density of the work and doubled the taut sense of tension. Anticipation is high for future endeavors by Lee Mi-do, who continues to maximize the nuances of her characters with delicate expressiveness in every project.
