A seismic shift shook the love lines of the ‘I Am SOLO’ 29th cohort.
On the Wednesday the 10th broadcast of SBS Plus and ENA’s reality dating program ‘I Am SOLO’, the situation at ‘Solo Nation No. 29’ was revealed, where after the first dates the direction of the ‘Cupid of love’ arrows changed.
That day, Young-ho, who went on a date with Young-sook and Hyun-suk, was asked, “Did you choose Ok-soon as the woman you wanted to date?” He replied, “Not anymore.” He lamented, “She said long-distance won’t work, and her ideal type is a ‘tofu face.’” He added, “Ok-soon smiles at me a lot and makes lots of eye contact, so I was tempted, but I snapped right back after a day,” continuing his ‘Ok-soon mantra.’ Amped up, Young-ho also rattled off his past dating history. He made a jaw-dropping remark: “I’ve dated realistically until now, so I want to seek the ideal. I’ve never liked a woman 100%.” The two single women froze for a moment, and Young-ho smiled at Young-sook, saying, “Thank you for choosing me twice. I think you’ll probably pick me at the end, too.” Meanwhile, Hyun-suk stayed silent, staring only at her phone as she listened to the two talk.
The same hush continued on Young-ho and Hyun-suk’s ‘1:1 date.’ Hyun-suk said, “You’re my no. 1,” but added she was also interested in Young-chul and Young-su. Young-ho said, “If I end up choosing Young-sook later, I hope you won’t be sad.” He then changed the subject with, “Is Young-sook downstairs?” and Hyun-suk quickly stepped aside. Young-ho brightened when Young-sook appeared, but soon said ambiguously, “The ratio tilts more toward you, Young-sook, but even if I choose Hyun-suk, I hope you won’t feel bad.” After the date, Young-sook said, “I felt good today, but he kept talking about Ok-soon. Am I a substitute?” feeling uneasy.
Gwang-soo and Ok-soon, who share being ‘dog people,’ kicked off the ‘1:1 date.’ Gwang-soo also touted pride in his job as a ‘Korean medicine doctor,’ pitching himself as the ‘Pyeongchang Lim Young-woong.’ However, Ok-soon suggested he also talk with Young-sook, whom he had said he was curious about. Still, failing to catch this properly, Gwang-soo returned to the lodging and bragged to the other single men, “I think it’s basically done. I think Ok-soon likes me too,” counting his chickens.
Meanwhile, ‘zero-vote man’ Young-sik, after his date, belatedly told Young-ja in the common living room that he was from H Foreign Language High School and K University’s business administration department. Young-ja said, “I have a friend who’s a foreign language high school teacher,” revealing that Young-sik was her friend’s student. She then flattered him, saying, “Once you leave here, you’ll be super popular with women your age.” But Young-sik felt slighted: “I’m preparing for rolling admissions, but it felt like being told to go the regular route.” After finishing dates with Jeong-suk and Sun-ja, Young-su asked to talk with Ok-soon. Ok-soon expressed her feelings by saying, “I’ve been mentioning you in my list of favorite men since yesterday.” Young-su responded, “If I get a chance to choose, I’ll choose you, Ok-soon.”
After his talk with Young-ja, a pensive Young-sik called her out again to air his discomfort: “I don’t think about anything beyond ‘Solo Nation.’” Young-ja apologized, “I’m sorry if that upset you. You looked as handsome as a son, and I felt like I’d raised you well,” explaining again. In response, Young-sik tried to build rapport as a ‘Songpa native,’ saying, “At introductions, you were the one I liked most.” But Young-ja said, “Hearing you’re a Songpa native makes you seem like a prince.” Feeling miffed, Young-sik protested, “Today I lit mosquito coils here, chased away flies, and even made breakfastdoes that make me a prince?” After their talk, Young-sik confessed in an interview with the producers that he’d been raised by his maternal grandmother, shedding hot tears. Even so, he showed a reversal of interest, saying, “I didn’t realize Young-ja was that pretty,” while Young-ja told the producers, “He felt especially younger,” and, “I thought of Young-sik like a son.”
Even in a group setting, Young-su and Ok-soon kept up their flirty mode. Then Sang-cheol called Ok-soon out and asked, “Am I among your two favorite men?” Ok-soon gave a roundabout answer: “You’re in the three.” Sang-cheol asked, “Am I on par with Gwang-soo?” Just then, Gwang-soo appeared and passed by. Conscious of the two, Gwang-soo grilled Sang-cheol about what they’d discussed when he returned.
After talking with Ok-soon, Young-su also called out Young-sook, who said, “You were among my favorite men, but you were so focused on Ok-soon that you dropped out of my mind.” Young-su appealed, “Do I have any opening? Right now my no. 2 is you, Young-sook.” After their conversation, Young-sook called out Young-chul, who showed interest, saying, “I’ve been watching you all along.” The two then talked about their families; while Young-sook was bored, Young-chul confessed, “If I get the chance, I want to go on a date with you, Young-sook.”
Meanwhile, when Gwang-soo learned that Ok-soon was interested in Young-su, he was furious, saying, “I honestly don’t see what the appeal is.” In the preview that followed, Young-su appealed, “If it were the men’s choice, I’d choose Ok-soon,” while Sang-cheol kept lingering over Ok-soon, hinting at an ‘Ok-soon showdown.’ Additionally, as interest in the 29th cohort’s married couple heated up, the production team released photos of the parents of the ‘prospective married couple’ as a hint. Seeing them, Defconn speculated, “Doesn’t the bride’s mother look a lot like Hyun-suk?” Intense attention is focused on who the 29th cohort’s married couple will be.
The 29th cohort’s heart-fluttering, fiery romance continues on Wednesday the 17th at 10:30 p.m. on SBS Plus and ENA’s ‘I Am SOLO.’
