JTBC ‘Sageon Banjang’
Amid allegations that comedian Park Na-rae received illegal injection treatments from a woman known as the ‘injection aunt’, Park’s former manager said of singer Jung Jae-hyung, who is also suspected of having committed illegal acts together, “I remember he got an IV drip at a regular hospital.”
JTBC ‘Sageon Banjang’ reported on the 10th the claims made by former manager A regarding the Park Na-rae case. On that day’s broadcast, former manager A said, “I remember the two received IV drips at a regular hospital.” This is consistent with the official position announced by Jung Jae-hyung’s side the previous day.
The controversy was raised on the December 13 broadcast last year of MBC’s variety show ‘I Live Alone’. On that episode, Park Na-rae and Jung Jae-hyung prepared 80 heads of kimchi together.
After finishing the kimchi-making, Jung Jae-hyung said, “When I book an IV for tomorrow, I should do it as well,” to which Park Na-rae replied, “Oh, let’s book the IV together.” After Park became embroiled in allegations of abusing her manager and of illegal medical practices, this exchange resurfaced among netizens, and MBC set all videos containing the remarks to private.
Subsequently, as Jung Jae-hyung came under suspicion over illegal injection treatments, on the 10th he stated, “To prevent further misunderstanding regarding the variety episode in question, I make it clear that I am entirely unrelated to the matter. I have no personal relationship with Ms. A (‘injection aunt’) and have not even met her.”
Meanwhile, Park Na-rae’s former managers, after filing criminal complaints against her on charges of special injury, defamation by stating false facts, and violation of the Information and Communications Network Act (defamation), also reported her for violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement). In addition, after reports that she received medical treatment from the so-called ‘injection aunt’, Lim Hyun-taek, president of the Korean Pediatric Association, requested that the two be investigated as co-principals on suspicions of violations of the Medical Service Act and the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act and of fraud, as well as on suspicion of abetting illegal medical practice.
Park Na-rae is currently “has decided to suspend broadcasting activities until everything is neatly resolved” and has stepped down from all the programs she appears in, effectively halting all activities.
