Actor Heo Sung-tae makes an appearance as the protagonist of the first installment of ‘We Came Out on Assignment’ on MBN ‘Kim Joo-Ha’s Day&Night,’ sitting down for a close one-on-one talk with Kim Joo-Ha.
MBN ‘Kim Joo-Ha’s Day&Night’ is a new-concept issue-maker talk show that champions ‘day and night, cool-headedness and passion, information and emotion.’ A segment prepared within ‘Kim Joo-Ha’s Day&Night,’ ‘We Came Out on Assignment’ features Kim Joo-Ha, Moon Se-yoon, and Jo Jjazz visiting meaningful places where the guests are, rather than the studio, to share candid conversations.
In episode 4 of ‘Kim Joo-Ha’s Day&Night,’ airing on the 13th, the first installment of ‘We Came Out on Assignment’ will see the always-reliable actor Heo Sung-tae and Kim Joo-Ha have a frank conversation at a place Heo chose as a spot full of memories. First, guided by a hint from the production team, Kim heads to the Dongdaemun Russian district, and a distinctive atmosphere forms as she meets Heo, who was standing next to an icebox in a corner of the district. Moreover, when Kim wonders what the icebox is, Heo drops a chilling line, saying, “There could be a corpse inside this!”, instantly freezing the air. Attention is drawn to what Heo’s meaningful remark really implies.
Heo reveals that before becoming an actor, he made use of his major in Russian to work in the overseas marketing department for the Russian market at a major corporation, debuting as an actor at age 35. Confessing, “Being an actor was something I could not even dare to imagine,” Heo talks about the severe appearance complex he had as a child and discloses the backstory of entering an actor audition program that changed his life: “I was watching TV and decided to try out.” Curiosity grows about the cause of the appearance complex that made young Heo withdrawn, and about the aftershocks that hit when Heo, who had no acting experience whatsoever, quit his job and applied to the audition program.
While dining with Kim Joo-Ha at a Russian restaurant, Heo suddenly confesses to Kim, “I like you, big sis!”, prompting laughter. Surprised to see not the charismatic figure he had seen on TV but the deeply human side of Kim, Heo exclaims, “You are really down-to-earth!” and “I never imagined I would hear something like this from Ms. Kim Joo-Ha.” The unexpected behavior from Kim that won Heo over arouses curiosity.
Heo also says he initially turned down the film ‘The Informant,’ his first lead role, explaining, “I thought it was premature for me to take on a first starring role.” Interest is mounting in why Heo changed his mind and in his resolve for his first leading performance.

The MBN issue-maker talk show ‘Kim Joo-Ha’s Day&Night’ presents a new form of ‘talktainment’ through a format set in the editorial office of the magazine ‘Day&Night,’ with Kim Joo-Ha as editor-in-chief and Moon Se-yoon and Jo Jjazz as editors, interviewing celebrities from all walks of life and covering various scenes on the ground. It airs every Saturday at 9:40 p.m.
