SBS Wed-Thu drama ‘Kissing For No Reason!’

In ‘Kissing For No Reason!’, Jang Ki-yong and Ahn Eun-jin finally confirmed their love for each other and shared a kiss.

According to ratings agency Nielsen Korea on December 12, Episode 10 of the SBS Wed-Thu drama ‘Kissing For No Reason!’ (written by Ha Yoon-a, Tae Kyung-min/ directed by Kim Jae-hyun, Kim Hyun-woo/ produced by Studio S, Samhwa Networks), which aired on December 11, recorded a nationwide rating of 6.6% and a peak minute rating of 7.8%, ranking first across all channels in its time slot and first among weekday dramas for five consecutive weeks. Adding to its two-week run at No. 1 globally on Netflix (non-English, 11/24~12/7), ‘Kissing For No Reason!’ has taken the top spot both domestically and overseas.

In this broadcast, Gong Ji-hyeok (played by Jang Ki-yong) and Go Da-rim (played by Ahn Eun-jin) took the long way around to finally acknowledge their love. The tender kiss ending between the two raised expectations for the sweet, lovey-dovey romance ahead and delivered the true essence of a thrilling, heart-fluttering rom-com.

Earlier, Gong Ji-hyeok learned that Kim Sun-woo (played by Kim Moo-joon) had confessed to Go Da-rim, and he held on to her tightly. Declaring, ‘Do not go. I do not want to let you go,’ Gong Ji-hyeok bulldozed in and kissed her. However, Go Da-rim, who still misunderstood that Gong Ji-hyeok and Yoo Ha-yeong (played by Woo Da-bi) were engaged to be married, pushed him away. Although Gong Ji-hyeok confessed that he liked her, Go Da-rim thought there was no way he would like someone like her, who had nothing and had even lied.

From the next day, Gong Ji-hyeok launched a full-on love offensive toward Go Da-rim. He kept telling her why he liked her. Around that time, Ji-hyeok’s mother Kim In-ae (played by Nam Gi-ae) and Da-rim’s mother Jung Myeong-sun (played by Cha Mi-kyung) were discharged together and headed to Go Da-rim’s home. Seizing the chance, Gong Ji-hyeok breezily made his way to her house, but there he found Kim Sun-woo. The childish yet endearing war of nerves between the two men resumed, drawing laughs.

Even so, Go Da-rim still could not believe that Gong Ji-hyeok truly liked her. Then, reminded of her mother’s words, ‘When you look at a person, judge actions, not words,’ she thought of Ji-hyeok. From Jeju Island where they first met to now, Gong Ji-hyeok unfailingly showed up whenever she was in trouble and protected her. Only then did Go Da-rim realize the sincerity of his feelings.

Before long, a photo exhibition prepared by the Mother TF team, Yoo Ha-yeong, and Kim Sun-woo opened. Yoo Tae-young (Ha-yeong’s older brother, played by Jung Hwan), who had consistently shown suspicious behavior, also attended. Then Gong Ji-hyeok spotted a mysterious man carrying a gasoline can and gave chase. A brawl broke out, and Ji-hyeok lost consciousness after the man’s attack. Shortly after, as feared, a large fire erupted, and Go Da-rim rushed into the flames to rescue the trapped Ji-hyeok.

Go Da-rim carried the unconscious Gong Ji-hyeok on her back and evacuated the building. After a moment, Ji-hyeok came to, pulled Da-rim into a tight embrace, and confessed, ‘There is no such thing as a reason I like you. Simply because you are you. I like you because you are Go Da-rim. I love you.’ With tears in her eyes, Go Da-rim answered his confession with a kiss. It was a tender yet heart-pounding ending in which the two finally confirmed each other’s feelings.

Episode 10 of ‘Kissing For No Reason!’ playfully, tenderly, and vibrantly depicted the journey of Gong Ji-hyeok and Go Da-rim as they circled back to confirm their love, keeping viewers in the palm of its hand.
