The veteran master squad of ‘Miss Trot 4’ expressed anticipation for the birth of a ‘trot girl idol’.
TV CHOSUN ‘Miss Trot 4’ will premiere on December 18 (Thu) at 10 p.m. The ‘Miss Trot’ series has firmly established itself as the top trot audition program, dominating the winter season in Korea. This ‘Miss Trot 4’ is set to deliver competitions beyond imagination, with even tougher contest rules and a large number of highly skilled performers taking part.
Above all, ‘Miss Trot 4’ stands out with the largest-ever master squad of 20. In particular, the veteran master squad features the full slate of past series winners, except for ‘Mister Trot 1’ Lim Young-woong. ‘Miss Trot 1’ Song Ga-in, ‘Miss Trot 2’ Yang Ji-eun, ‘Miss Trot 3’ Jeong Seo-ju, ‘Mister Trot 2’ Ahn Seong-hoon, and ‘Mister Trot 3’ Kim Yong-bin will serve as masters. In addition, ‘Mister Trot 1’ TOP7 Kim Hee-jae, ‘Mister Trot 2’ Park Ji-hyun, ‘Mister Trot 3’ Son Bin-a and Cheon Rok-dam, Chun Gil, and ‘Miss Trot 3’ Bae Ah-hyun have joined, completing a golden lineup.
Meanwhile, with six days left until the first broadcast, the veteran master squad revealed points to watch, drawing attention. First, Ahn Seong-hoon of ‘Mister Trot 2’, who is making a strong showing across trot stages and variety, said via the production team, “There are many tremendous talents, including new faces who have never appeared on auditions, unexpected challengers, and legendary singers. Stages like the final will unfold from the preliminaries. The road to the final has become even harder,” heightening expectations.
Cheon Rok-dam, who opened the second act of a singing career through ‘Mister Trot 3’, shared thoughts on returning as a master after one year: “I do not know how a year has passed; the feelings are fresh and it is like a dream,” and added, “There will surely be differences from previous seasons. Please look forward to the birth of a much younger trot empress. I cautiously predict that the first trot girl idol star may emerge.”
Yang Ji-eun, returning as a master from ‘Miss Trot 2’, conveyed the heated on-site atmosphere: “Five years ago, the masters were seated across from me, and now I am serving alongside them as a fellow master; it truly feels like a dream. I kept wondering where such new talents had appeared from; there were many shockingly skilled contestants. Each division had different charms, so even with long hours of recording, time flew by, and there was no end to the admiration and laughter from the master seats.”

At age 16, ‘Miss Trot 3’ Jeong Seo-ju, who had seized the title as the youngest-ever winner, said, “Miss Trot was a major turning point in my life, and this time I am joining as a master, which feels like a dream. This season, the standards were set incredibly high from the very first master preliminary, so the contestants will feel a great burden. Because of that, they showcased stages full of earnestness, and it brought back to me the moment when I was standing on stage two years ago,” showing special affection and interest toward ‘Miss Trot’ and the participants.
‘Mister Trot 2’ Park Ji-hyun said, “This season, the gateway has become narrower and more intense. Those chosen that way will truly be elite members,” ‘Mister Trot 3’ Son Bin-a said, “The judging criteria have become too difficult. Under the current rules, I do not think I would have received an All-Heart,” Chun Gil said, “A fierce stage will unfold among the women vying for the crown. A new trot queen, a new era will be born,” ‘Mister Trot 1’ senior representative master Kim Hee-jae said, “With many new faces, stages we have never seen before will be born,” and ‘Miss Trot 3’ Bae Ah-hyun said, “It was a tense and grim scene,” foreshadowing an even harsher competition.
