The Korea e-Sports Industry Society (President Song Seok-rok, Professor at Kyungdong University) announced on the 12th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Kyung Hee University (President Kim Jin-sang) at Courtyard by Marriott Suwon to promote mutual cooperation in the e-sports industry·academic fields. The agreement represents a strategic partnership to jointly pursue academic research, training of professionals, and the establishment of industryacademia cooperation models amid the rapidly changing e-sports industry environment.

Through this agreement, the two institutions will pursue collaborative academic work in advanced industrial fields, joint research related to the e-sports industry and policy, development of e-sports education programs and professional training courses, and the strengthening of practice·field-centered education based on industryacademia cooperation, as cooperative initiatives.
Through this agreement, the Korea e-Sports Industry Society plans to further strengthen its foundation for academic research while creating a forward-looking model for building an e-sports ecosystem with joint participation by universities and industry.
Kyung Hee University likewise emphasizes the growth potential of the e-sports industry and the need for convergence education, and plans to operate a variety of programs with the Society based on its internal resources and research capacity. In particular, it intends to promote a convergent education model that combines e-sports with fields in which Kyung Hee has strengths, such as AI, data, sports, and the cultural industry, thereby helping to cultivate talent with the expertise demanded by industry.
Kim Do-gyun, head of the Sports DNA Department at Kyung Hee University, said, “Big data and AI are new growth drivers in the e-sports industry that will steer future industries and provide opportunities for Sports DNA+ academic convergence, and we must lay academic foundations and enhance expertise.”
President Song Seok-rok emphasized, “E-sports has now moved beyond a mere cultural industry to become a future growth engine with global competitiveness,” adding, “With this agreement as a starting point, we will build a new e-sports education·research ecosystem that brings together universities, industry, and academia.”
