A meeting of ‘top-tier’ musicians from Korea and Japan has come to fruition. Artist and producer ZICO will team up for a duet with prominent Japanese musician Lilas (YOASOBI Ikura).
On the afternoon of the 12th, ZICO announced via SNS that his new digital single ‘DUET’, made with Lilas, will be released at 12:00 a.m. on the 19th. Lilas likewise drew attention by posting on SNS a photo of herself holding ZICO’s ‘duet invitation’ along with the message “I’d love to, Let’s DUET!” (Great, let’s duet together!).
Earlier, ZICO shared on SNS and his YouTube channel that he was working on a new song. In a video, he lamented, “The song is so good, but I couldn’t find someone to do it with,” hinting that the new track is a duet. Afterwards, various artists drew attention by posting proof shots of the ‘duet invitation’ they had received from ZICO. Go Kyung-pyo, LE SSERAFIM, BOYNEXTDOOR’s Sungho, BE’O, IVE’s Rei, Um Ji-yoon, ENHYPEN, Lee Eun-ji, izna, Colde, Han Roro, and 10CM (Ten Centimeters) uploaded photos featuring invitations emblazoned with the phrase “LET’S DUET.” As curiosity over ZICO’s collaboration partner grew, it was revealed that Lilas is the collaborator, prompting an enthusiastic response.
ZICO is a leading figure representing Korean hip-hop music. Lilas is regarded as a symbol of Japanese band music. Anticipation is mounting for the music completed by the meeting of these standard-bearers from different genres. A video ZICO posted earlier included a snippet of the new song’s buoyant, upbeat melody.
ZICO has continued to make fresh forays by collaborating with musicians across diverse genres. Recently, he showcased a broad musical spectrum with ‘EKO EKO’, a collaboration with renowned Japanese act m-flo, and ‘SPOT! (feat.JENNIE)’, made with BLACKPINK’s Jennie.
ZICO’s global activities are also ongoing. On February 7 next year, ZICO will hold a solo concert, ‘2026 ZICO LIVE : TOKYO DRIVE’, at Keio Arena Tokyo in Tokyo, Japan. It will be his first solo performance in Japan in eight years. ZICO plans to meet audiences with a setlist encompassing his popular songs.
