Actor Lee Mijoo responded coolly to a rude remark made to her face.
On the 12th, the YouTube channel ‘Just Lee Mijoo’ released a video titled ‘An outing to Seongsu hot spots by the world No. 1 beauty, K-gyaru’.
That day, Lee Mijoo reapplied the gyaru makeup that had become a hot topic and set out for an outing in Seongsu. Entering a cafe, she said, “Today, I will come to a cafe, drink coffee, take selfies, shoot Shorts, go to another cafe to have a second dessert, and shoot Shorts again. I tend to keep doing it until someone recognizes me.”
At the cafe, Lee Mijoo took time to read comments left on the previous gyaru makeup video. She said, “There are comments like ‘Let us go to Shibuya and set things straight’ and ‘Let us pull in the yen.’”

She also addressed the rude passerby’s remark, saying, “There is a bit of talk about ‘jiregye.’” Lee Mijoo said, “To be honest, I did not know that the word ‘jiregye’ was Korean, so I did not feel bad,” and sent a cool video message, “How are you doing? You must have watched YouTube, of course. I am fine. I actually did not understand it. Do not worry too much,” drawing laughter.
Earlier, in a video released on the 28th of last month, Lee Mijoo tried gyaru makeup for the first time and went out onto the streets of Hongdae. While walking around, she chatted with passersby. At that moment, a person behind her made a somewhat rude remark to Lee Mijoo, saying, “I thought you were jiregye,” which drew criticism.
‘Jiregye’ is a term that spread mainly on Japanese social media (SNS). It refers to a woman who looks simply cute and pretty on the surface, but when you actually date her, her personality is full of problems, as if stepping on a ‘land mine’.
