The film ‘Zootopia 2’ (directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard) has climbed past the 5 million mark.
According to the Korean Film Council integrated computer network on the 14th, ‘Zootopia 2’ surpassed 5 million viewers, recording a cumulative audience of 5,138,872 as of 12:30 a.m. that day. With 427,304 daily admissions, it also topped the box office.
‘Zootopia 2’ is a thrilling chase adventure featuring the best duo from ‘Zootopia’, ‘Judy’ and ‘Nick’, who pursue the mysterious snake ‘Gary’ that has shaken the city, diving into a new world to investigate a perilous case.
The success of ‘Zootopia 2’ is even more notable for setting the mark 20 days earlier than ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Castle Arc (Theatrical Version)’, the top-grossing film of this year. Attention is focused on whether ‘Zootopia 2’ can seize the title of the top-grossing film of the year by overtaking ‘Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Castle Arc (Theatrical Version)’, which rose to No. 1 among this year releases with a final score of 5,677,638.
In addition, ‘Zootopia 2’ has not only held the No. 1 spot at the box office for 18 consecutive days, but is also proving overwhelming momentum as the OST ‘Zoo’ (ZOO), composed by pop star Ed Sheeran with vocals by Shakira, has entered the Melon chart Top 100.
In second place is ‘The People Upstairs’. It logged 57,751 daily admissions and 355,595 cumulative admissions. Directed by and co-starring actor Ha Jung-woo, it turns adults-only ‘19+’ material into comedy.
‘Pororo the Movie: Sweet Castle Grand Adventure’ climbed to third place on the strength of support from child audiences. It drew 32,814 viewers.
‘Informant’, starring Heo Sung-tae, has been pushed out of the top 10. A total of 4,053 people went to theaters, and with 142,178 cumulative admissions, it stands at No. 11. It appears to be the de facto final score.
