‘The Mask’ Peter Greene.
Actor Peter Greene (Peter Greene), who delivered powerful villain roles in films such as ‘Pulp Fiction’ and ‘The Mask’, has died at the age of 60.
According to foreign media reports, he was found dead at his New York home last Friday, and the cause of death has not been disclosed. A manager for the bereaved family announced the death and was said to have relayed the police statement that “no foul play is suspected.”
In 1994, in the film Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino, Greene took on the role of security guard ‘Zed’, leaving a strong impression with his portrayal of a villain. That same year, in the Jim Carrey-led The Mask, he played the antagonist Dorian, boosting his mainstream recognition.
His manager Gregg Edwards told NBC News after his death, “No actor portrayed villains as well as Peter. Yet he also had a gentle side most people did not see, and he had a heart of gold,” paying tribute to him. He added, “He was a truly outstanding actor and a genuinely good friend. He will be missed.”
Greene portrayed a man with schizophrenia in the film Clean, Shaven by Lodge Kerrigan, and won Best Actor at the 1994 Taormina Film Festival. On the strength of this, he went on to make his mark in various works including ‘The Usual Suspects’.
He also continued his career by appearing in numerous genre films, including Judgment Night, The Rich Man’s Wife (starring Halle Berry), Blue Streak, and The Bounty Hunter starring Jennifer Aniston.
A native of Montclair, New Jersey, he is survived by a younger sister and a younger brother.
