Broadcaster Hong Jin-kyung drew attention once again by unveiling the interior layout of her Pyeongchang-dong home.

On the 14th, the YouTube channel ‘No Filter TV’ uploaded a video titled “Knock, knock at real-genius Hong Jin-kyung home! Went to tour the house and ended up chatting even more, that kind of room tour.” In the video, Kim Na-young visited the house of Hong Jin-kyung, and the two naturally looked around the home while talking.

The Pyeongchang-dong home of Hong Jin-kyung, in Jongno-gu, Seoul, has already been introduced through several programs. The house was designed by architect Itami Jun, who also designed Jeju Podo Hotel and Bangju Church, and has drawn attention for its distinctive sculptural beauty and spatial composition.

A defining feature is that the residence makes full use of Pyeongchang-dong’s sloped terrain so that each space offers wide views of nature outside the windows. A coffered ceiling that evokes hanok rafters, minimalist interiors in white tones, and restrained lighting add serenity and warmth throughout the space. Wood is used throughout the house, and it even has a hinoki bathtub, prompting the assessment that ‘the house itself feels like a space for rest.’

Seeing a bookshelf in one corner of the living room, Kim Na-young admired, saying, “It seems you read a lot of books,” and asked, “What are you reading these days?” In response, Hong Jin-kyung said she had read “‘The Remains of the Day’ and ‘The Death of Ivan Ilyich,’” revealing her recent reading tastes.

The two then moved to the study of Lael. In a space where the outside scenery pours in through a wall of windows, Kim Na-young said, “Lael will be able to study well here,” but Hong Jin-kyung, laughing, responded, “I have never once seen this kid study here. She only does nail care and that sort of diary-decoration stuff here,” showing a down-to-earth mom reaction.

Hong Jin-kyung also opened up about concerns regarding educating her children. She said, “I need to have them do Gitan Math. Since I am raising them, the kids make many mistakes in arithmetic. I have Lael study so that even arithmetic is solved in a mechanical way.”

This house was offered at 3,000,000,000~3,600,000,000 KRW when it went on sale in 2009, that is $2,250,000~$2,700,000 (3,000,000,000~3,600,000,000 KRW). According to the Ministry of Land’s real transaction records, in 2023 a 273㎡ exclusive area traded for about 3,500,000,000 KRW, that is about $2,625,000 (3,500,000,000 KRW), and it is said to have continued to retain its value as a representative high-end residential area.
