Actor Hyun Bin said that for the new project ‘Made in Korea’, he recorded his highest weight since his debut.

At 10:30 a.m. on the 15th, a production presentation for the Disney+ drama ‘Made in Korea’ was held at the Grand Ballroom of the Seoul Parnas Hotel. Director Woo Min-ho, along with Park Yong-woo, Noh Jae-won, Kang Gil-woo, Jung Sung-il, Won Ji-an, Seo Eun-soo, Woo Do-hwan, Jung Woo-sung, and Hyun Bin attended and introduced the work.

Hyun Bin revealed that he gained about 14kg for the character ‘Baek Gi-tae’ in this project. He said, “Based on ‘Made in Korea’, I am up by about 14kg,” and added, “I wanted the intimidation projected by the organization called the Central Intelligence Agency to be evident in the character itself. So I bulked up and exercised to build muscle.”

He continued, “I think I kept the diet relatively comfortable compared with when I created characters for other works,” adding, “I think my body is the biggest it has ever been during my acting career.”

Meanwhile, set against the Republic of Korea in the 1970s, when chaos and a leap forward coexisted, ‘Made in Korea’ depicts the confrontation between a man, ‘Baek Gi-tae’ (Hyun Bin), who seeks to use the state as a revenue model to rise to the pinnacle of power, and a prosecutor, ‘Jang Geon-yeong’ (Jung Woo-sung), who tenaciously pursues him to the end. It weightily portrays the story of the two men as they face colossal incidents that cut across the era.

Signaling the synergy of a powerful cast and a well-made production team, ‘Made in Korea’ will be released on Disney+ in sequence, with two episodes on December 24, two on December 31, one on January 7, 2025, and one on January 14, for a total of six episodes.
