TV Chosun “No Next Life”
With only one day left until the final episode, TV Chosun’s “No Next Life” will present Kim Hee-sun, Han Hye-jin, and Jin Seo-yeon showcasing a “healing friendship date,” taking a breather and recharging their 20-year bond with genuine best-friend chemistry.
The MondayTuesday miniseries “No Next Life” (directed by Kim Jeong-min/written by Shin I-won/produced by TME Group, Firstman Studio, Megaphone) has offered resonance across generations as three 41-year-old friends of 20 years create diverse episodes through different choicesfrom a career-break mom and a working mom to marriage and divorce and the so-called “gold miss.” Riding that momentum, episodes 9 and 10 of “No Next Life” recorded per-minute peak ratings of 4.1% and 4.2% by Nielsen Korea standards, breaking its own record for four consecutive episodes and proving overwhelming late-stage momentum.
In the previous broadcast, Jo Na-jeong (played by Kim Hee-sun), Gu Ju-yeong (played by Han Hye-jin), and Lee Il-ri (played by Jin Seo-yeon) were shown facing very different crises. Jo Na-jeong revealed the truth about a sexual-harassment scandal within the company but was subjected to early dismissal, and Gu Ju-yeong was shocked by the domestic-violence trauma of her divorced husband Oh Sang-min (Jang In-seop). Lee Il-ri fell into deep contemplation because of Byeon Sang-gyu (Heo Jun-seok), whose love for children is exceptional, casting a foreboding mood.
Episode 11 of “No Next Life,” airing on the 15th, presents a “Liberation Log of the Best-Friends Trio,” in which Kim Hee-sun, Han Hye-jin, and Jin Seo-yeon briefly escape the pressure of their worries and comfort one another with the warmth of friendship. In the story, the three best friends of 20 yearsJo Na-jeong, Gu Ju-yeong, and Lee Il-rishake off the weight of reality and set out on a friendship trip for healing. They walk barefoot along a lush forest path, smiling brightly, and even burst into hearty laughter while buying a single item at the market. Yet the same three who were enjoying themselves sit side by side on the beach wearing serious expressions. Attention focuses on whether the friendship trip for Jo Na-jeong, Gu Ju-yeong, and Lee Il-ri to catch their breath will wrap up safely.
Meanwhile, in the “healing friendship date” scene, Kim Hee-sun, Han Hye-jin, and Jin Seo-yeon unleashed the solid and intimate “best-friend chemistry” they had steadily built through filming, bathing the set in emotion. Even before the camera rolled, the three had already completed thorough preparations as real-life friends rather than as performers, creating a warm atmosphere. Kim Hee-sun boosted the energy of the friendship trip with the relaxed yet forthright smile of Jo Na-jeong, Han Hye-jin naturally conveyed the warmth of Gu Ju-yeong, who listens closely and focuses on her friends, and Jin Seo-yeon depicted the playful side of a cute Lee Il-ri who has set aside a deputy editor’s sharpness, completing a happy friendship-trip scene.
The production team said, “The genuine friendship narrative of 20-year best friends that Kim Hee-sun, Han Hye-jin, and Jin Seo-yeon have crafted through “No Next Life” is the decisive driving force that has formed a realistic sense of empathy,” adding, “Please watch episode 11 with us to see how the friendship journey of these three, who have shown the power of sincere hearts, will unfold.”
The MondayTuesday miniseries “No Next Life” is a slapstick comic coming-of-age story about three 41-year-old friends, worn down by the same day every day, parenting wars, and hamster-wheel office life, as they strive for a better “fully realized life.” Episode 11 airs at 10 p.m. on the 15th.
