The aftermath of the so-called ‘Injection Aunt·Park Na-rae Gate’ is spreading far and wide. Police are looking into entertainer Jun Hyun-moo’s ‘in-vehicle IV drip’ matter.

On the 23rd, it was confirmed that the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul received a complaint requesting verification of the facts regarding the medical institution and the medical act related to an IV drip administered inside the vehicle of entertainer Jun Hyun-moo, assigned an investigative team, and launched an investigation.

The complaint seeks an investigation into the unidentified provider who treated Jun Hyun-moo with an intravenous infusion (IV drip) and other parties involved.

According to the complaint, webtoon artist Kian84, who received the Best Couple Award with Park Na-rae at the 2019 ‘MBC Entertainment Awards’, said, “Park Na-rae went to get an IV drip twice during filming. Jun Hyun-moo also filmed while on an IV drip.” Investigators were asked to check the original video and the full context of the statement to verify the facts, including whether its purport relates to the ‘in-vehicle intravenous infusion scene’ in this case.

In addition, suspicions have been raised that the name of Jun Hyun-moo is also included in the Instagram ‘following’ list of Ms. Lee, known as ‘Injection Aunt’, and the complainant urged verification based on objective materials.

It also stated, “Medical records are structured to include personal information such as address⋅name⋅contact information⋅resident registration number, as well as treatment details such as injections⋅medication⋅procedures and the date and time of treatment, and the retention period for medical records is set at 10 years,” and, “If it is objectively confirmed that, as explained by Jun Hyun-moo, it was a lawful medical act, it will contribute to protecting the parties and stabilizing public opinion.”

Recently, a scene from 2016 on the MBC entertainment program ‘I Live Alone’ featuring Jun Hyun-moo receiving an IV drip while traveling in a vehicle has been revisited. Along with suspicions of illegal medical practice involving Park Na-rae, questions have been raised about whether Jun Hyun-moo is also implicated in such suspicions.

If a doctor or nurse administered an IV drip in a vehicle rather than at a medical institution (hospital) without a legitimate reason such as a house call, it constitutes a violation of Article 33(1) of the Medical Service Act. The statute of limitations for violations of the Medical Service Act is five years.

However, if it is confirmed that a non-medical person engaged in medical practice as a business for profit, it is handled as a serious crime under Article 5, Item 1 of the Act on Special Measures for the Control of Public Health Crimes, punishable by life imprisonment or imprisonment of at least two years. The statute of limitations is 15 years, so investigation and punishment are possible at this point.

The agency SM C&C representing Jun Hyun-moo has moved quickly to contain the situation.

On the 19th, the agency stated, “At the time, Jun Hyun-moo’s throat condition was not good, so he received treatment at a hospital after consultation and a prescription from the attending physician,” and, “Because there was not enough time before the filming schedule, part of the process of completing treatment while moving, under the judgment of the physician, was inevitably aired.”

It added, “With the exception of the final step, all medical procedures were conducted inside the hospital based on the judgment and prescription of the medical staff,” and, “There was no instance of personally calling a medical professional or receiving an illegal procedure.”
