‘Nine consecutive appearances’ Heo Kyung-hwan gripes to the production team: “I held out until last year... what are you going to do with me?” (How Do You Play?)

Comedian Heo Kyung-hwan expressed his dissatisfaction to the production team.

On the Jan. 10 broadcast of MBC ‘How Do You Play?’ episode 312, Heo Kyung-hwan, who has appeared for nine consecutive episodes since episode 304 ‘Meeting of Unpopular People,’ revealed his desire to become a regular as the new year began.

That day, Joo Woo-jae, Haha, and Heo Kyung-hwan appeared holding a cake marked with the number ‘21’ to celebrate Yoo Jae-suk’s Grand Prize. Feeling bashful, Yoo said, “I think of it as a Grand Prize we received together. You all worked so hard,” bowing his head in thanks.

As the mood warmed up, Joo revealed, “Yoo Jae-suk treated us to delicious meat that day,” drawing applause on set. Heo Kyung-hwan, who had not attended the ceremony, looked awkward, and Yoo, smiling, said, “You should be taking action,” then asked Heo, “You didn’t come to the ceremony, did you?” Heo explained, “I watched the live broadcast. I even sent a proof photo right away.”

Yoo told Heo, “It was an occasion you could have come to for the get-together, but you didn’t,” and Haha asked, “Is it still ambiguous?” Heo said, “I didn’t attend the ceremony, so going only to the after-party felt a bit off,” expressing regret.

Later, when Haha asked, “Doesn’t it feel like you’ve moved over to ‘You Quiz’?” Heo quipped, “‘You Quiz’ has now become a nationwide interview. After the broadcast ended, articles started dropping sharply, more than I expected,” eliciting laughter. Joo Woo-jae chimed in, “There were the most articles during the pre-release.”

Yoo revealed, “He went on You Quiz yesterday and said he watched his own segment standing up,” and Heo said, “I am in the process of a nationwide evaluation.”

Haha pressed him, “‘You Quiz’ or ‘How Do You Play?’ Say it straight,” and a flustered Heo finally burst out, “It’s time to say something to ‘How Do You Play?’ too. What are you going to do with me? What am I going to do? I held out until 2025. I thought you would bring it up at least once. Let’s play together a bit.”

Yoo said, “Try talking with them properly,” and Heo complained, “No one is talking. Is ‘a member’ that hard to say—those three syllables? I’ve been hanging on since 2025.” Yoo then said, “Okay, let’s say Kyung-hwan is a member. One-two,” using Heo’s catchphrase to acknowledge him as a member.
