TV CHOSUN ‘Lovers of Joseon’

On the TV CHOSUN hyper-realistic documentary variety show ‘Lovers of Joseon’, Ahn Sun-Young, the first celebrity show host, candidly reveals the reason she had to leave broadcasting.

In a pre-release clip for ‘Lovers of Joseon’, set to air on Monday the 12th, Ahn Sun-Young, a capable CEO who achieved 1 trillion won in cumulative home-shopping sales and the first celebrity show host, appears with a bright smile. When the production team asked early in the morning where she was headed, Ahn Sun-Young, who has one son, startled everyone with the bombshell remark, “I am going to see my eldest daughter.” As it turns out, Ahn Sun-Young spends one full day each week with her mother, who is battling dementia.

Driving herself and setting out before dawn to see her mother, Ahn Sun-Young calmly recalled her last broadcast: “It seems my stint as MC of ‘Troubled Couples’ was my final show. Three to four years ago, her dementia worsened. When I decided to care for my mother at home, I think I gave up doing all-day recordings.”

Ahn Sun-Young said, “Life is, after all, a series of choices and conflicts,” explaining that among the roles that make up who she is, ‘mother, daughter, entertainer’, she boldly set work aside to care for her family. She continued, “Work can be resumed at any time. In two to three years, my mother will remember even less... For now, it seems right to put my work on hold for a while,” conveying her deep affection for her mother.

The everyday life of Ahn Sun-Young, who has set broadcasting aside for her family and lives as both mother and daughter, will be revealed on the hyper-realistic documentary variety show TV CHOSUN ‘Lovers of Joseon’ on Monday, January 12 at 10 p.m.
