Films from Korea are making a second bid at leading global awards. That stage is the Golden Globe Awards to be held on the 12th (KST).
On the 12th in Los Angeles, the 83rd Golden Globe Awards will be held. The Golden Globes annually honor films and TV dramas from around the world, recognizing works with outstanding artistry and actors who deliver remarkable performances.
This year, major works rooted in K-culture have been nominated, raising hopes for wins. Representative titles are the Netflix original animation ‘K-pop Demon Hunters’ (hereafter Kedehun) and the film ‘It Cannot Be Helped’ by director Park Chan-wook.

‘Kedehun’ has been nominated for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, Best Original Song, and Best Animated Feature. ‘Kedehun’ already won two awards at the 2026 Critics Choice, boosting prospects for recognition at the Golden Globes and further at the Academy Awards in March.
‘It Cannot Be Helped’ has been nominated for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, and for Best Non-English Language Film. Lee Byung-hun, who plays the lead character Mansu in the film, is the first Korean actor nominated for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, and will compete against fellow nominees such as Leonardo DiCaprio and George Clooney.
At the Golden Globes, ‘Parasite’ won Best Non-English Language Film in 2020, and O Yeong-su of ‘Squid Game’ won Best Supporting Actor in Television in 2022. Attention is focused on whether there will be meaningful results again this year. The ceremony will be broadcast on the 12th via platforms such as CBS and Paramount Plus.
