Genesis has rolled out the ‘GV60 Magma’ early to mark 2026, the ‘Year of the Red Horse’. It is the brand’s first ‘high-performance’ electric SUV, pairing powerful driving performance with an elegant presence.
Genesis’s first high-performance electric car, the ‘GV60 Magma’, launching early for the ‘Year of the Red Horse’
‘Magma’ is a wording that symbolizes the resilience and energy of the Korean people, as well as a spirit of creation and challenge, and it will be applied sequentially to luxury high-performance models within the Genesis lineup. Rather than merely pursuing fast wheelspin, it should be regarded as a ‘certification badge’ granted only when a luxurious yet bold body and Genesis’s restrained safety are all satisfied.
To start with, the GV60 Magma does zero-to-one-hundred in the 10.9-second range. It also has a top speed of 264㎞ per hour, giving it the most advanced power performance among Genesis electrified models. A fourth-generation 84㎾h battery is mounted under the floor, and, based on certification completed by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, it has been verified for a single-charge driving range of 346㎞. It uses SK On battery cells. Combined efficiency is 3.7㎞/㎾h.
It is equipped with powerful front and rear motors delivering a combined maximum output of 448㎾ (609 horsepower) and peak torque of 740 Nm. Engage Boost mode and it unleashes up to 478㎾ (650 horsepower) for about 15 seconds. It is offered as a single trim, and the price is 96.57 million won based on an individual consumption tax rate of 3.5%.
Genesis has devoted significant effort to improving front and rear motor cooling so that high performance is sustained even during prolonged high-output driving. Those efforts are fully reflected in the GV60 Magma.
The ‘GV60 Magma’ moves to the fore in the luxury high-performance market.
Additionally, to stabilize handling adjustability, a next-generation suspension geometry with a substantially lower roll center than the existing GV60 has been applied.
Inside, Magma-exclusive power 10-way bucket seats are installed. Among the finishes, suede-type Chamude material stands out. Functional buttons finished in black high-gloss or dark metal also serve as ‘on-point accents’.
A Genesis official stated, “The GV60 Magma is Genesis’s first high-performance model; it is the first outcome of carrying forward the challenge shown at the concept stage into reality, and a new starting point for Genesis that will redefine luxury.”
