Stepping away for a moment from the glittering spotlight of acting, actor Seohyun makes a surprise transformation into a violinist brimming with passion.

On March 13 at 8 p.m., at Lotte Concert Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul, Seohyun will appear as a special guest soloist at the ‘Sol Philharmonic Orchestra 8th Regular Concert’. In this performance, she is set to present the allure of classical music by performing Vittorio Monti’s masterpiece ‘Csárdás’, where driving rhythms intersect with plaintive melodies.

What makes this stage even more special is that Seohyun has been learning the violin for just a little over five months as a hobbyist. Asking to be affectionately called a ‘barininist (violin + child)’, Seohyun is determined to showcase the pure passion of someone who genuinely enjoys music rather than the perfection of a professional performer.

Her participation came about in sympathy with the purpose of the ‘Sol Philharmonic Orchestra’, which is composed not of professional performers but of people who love classical music. It is said that she decided to collaborate in hopes that, by standing on stage herself, she could lower the barrier to classical music and help more of the public grow familiar with the genre.

Seohyun said, “I hope that through my challenge, many people will feel closer to classical music and discover new enjoyment,” adding, “Like popular music, I want to convey that classical is also ‘music for all of us’ that anyone can enjoy easily and happily.”

Although she began the violin as a hobby, Seohyun is working hard in step with the orchestra for this stage. The violin lines she plays are expected to offer a new appeal of classical music to pop music fans, and a fresh, pure energy to classical aficionados.

Under the baton of Cho Sang-Wook, this concert featuring violinist Baek Ju-Young and Seohyun will present a varied program including Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5, Marquez’s Danzon No. 2, and ‘Spring’ from Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. Tickets can be reserved via Lotte Concert Hall and NOL ticket.
