Show On Company
Musical actor Kai is launching activities in Japan with the release of the full-length Japanese album ‘KAI ON MUSICAL-JAPAN’ (Kai on Musical-Japan).
‘KAI ON MUSICAL-JAPAN’ is his second full-length Japanese album, unveiled 13 years after his first released in 2012, and it is the culmination of Kai's musical and narrative growth accumulated over 17 years.
Comprised of seven tracks, ‘KAI ON MUSICAL-JAPAN’ will be released in two versions, Act 1 and Act 2, and Kai will perform six of them in Japanese, aiming to deliver pure emotion and narrative that transcend the language barrier.
The album selects songs mainly from the musicals ‘Phantom’, ‘Frankenstein’, ‘Beethoven’, and ‘Xcalibur’, in which Kai has taken the stage with passionate performances, wholly capturing his artistic identity as both actor and singer. It also broadens his musical spectrum by including songs from works he has cherished but not performed in, such as ‘Elisabeth’ and ‘Wild Gray’.
As half of the tracks on ‘KAI ON MUSICAL-JAPAN’ come from original Korean musicals, it carries deeper meaning as a bridge conveying the appeal of Korean musical theater to Japanese audiences.
Regarded as one of Kai's representative songs, ‘In Your Dream’ (from the musical ‘Frankenstein’) intensifies the character's desperate emotions and narrative, leaving a lingering resonance through Kai's trademark restrained breath and deep timbre.
‘Love Is Cruel’ (from the musical ‘Beethoven’) portrays the anguish of a person standing before tragic fate, while Kai's characteristic ability to layer emotions offers a dramatic sense of immersion. Then, ‘Becoming a King’ (from the musical ‘Xcalibur’) confirms the song's narrative scale as the moment of resolve to accept destiny achieves a subtle harmony with his solid voice.
With its dramatic melody, ‘Wherever It May Be’ (from the musical ‘Phantom’) will deliver to listeners the character's delicate emotions where solitude and longing intersect. In addition, ‘Your Eyes’ (from the musical ‘Wild Gray’) and ‘I Am My Own’ (from the musical ‘Elisabeth’) are songs that can be heard for the first time in Kai's voice through this album, offering special joy to listeners
These tracks will also be available as audio releases on major music platforms such as Melon, and are expected to be a special gift for fans who have loved his music.
Alongside the milestone Japanese album release, Kai will hold concerts in Tokyo on the 17th and 18th, meeting local fans. Held at Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall (NIHONBASHI MITSUI HALL) in Tokyo, the concerts will offer the first opportunity to experience the album tracks live on stage, and as this is his first solo concert for Japanese audiences, Kai is said to have participated directly in the show's composition, raising expectations.Kai ‘K
