JTBC Friday series ‘Love Me’
Yoon Se-ah’s delicate melodrama came into full bloom with ‘Love Me’. ‘Love Me’ star Yoon Se-ah shared her thoughts on the finale, leaving a warm afterglow with a tender conclusion that moves toward happiness.
On the 23rd, JTBC’s Friday series ‘Love Me’ (directed by Cho Young-min, written by Park Eun-young and Park Hee-kwon, produced by SLL and How Pictures) ended with episode 12. Jayoung (played by Yoon Se-ah) accepted the reality that her memories are fading and, by embracing life with love, arrived at a courageous moment to live in the present amid emotion and consolation.
Amid the fear that she was losing her memories and the anxiety that she might ruin Jiho’s (played by Yoo Jae-myung) life, Jayoung fled his side, putting the happiness of the one she loves first. The sincerity of hoping that her last memory would be of Jiho, and the gaze that could not look away from him even in the moment of leaving, left a deep ache. But when Jayoung faced Jiho, who stood there a mess with tears welling, she chose the love of the present by pulling the surely weary Jiho into an embrace, and, having resolved to accept reality, she moved forward with a firm attitude by candidly confessing her illness to her family. Jayoung’s smile, which built hope upon sorrow, bathed living rooms with a warm afterglow.
Keeping just the right temperature for an adult melodrama that marks the second act of life, Yoon Se-ah convincingly built up the process by which emotions spread. Through the ease in her smile, gaze, and tone of voice, she revealed Jayoung’s gentle disposition, and she gently expanded, with calm acting, the mature stance of not shirking responsibility in the face of love. The time of loss that Jayoung confronted was rendered grippingly by Yoon Se-ah’s restrained performance, which delicately captured minute fissures of feeling. The bright, warm energy that Jayoung conveyed beyond the screen gradually shifted into a hollow expression and sorrowful eyes. Until the moment she resolved to face reality head-on with the person she loves, Yoon Se-ah clearly revealed Jayoung’s sturdy inner self with unadorned expression and deep breaths.
As such, Yoon Se-ah, who rewrote the meanings of love and courage, shared her closing thoughts through her agency Ace Factory. “Through the project ‘Love Me’, I have experienced such great love and am taking with me great courage. As an actor, I was more thrilled and grateful than ever to grow older together with a work like ‘Love Me’ that carries a deep resonance. Like Jayoung, actor Yoon Se-ah will try to live the precious daily life given to me happily and faithfully, day by day. I extend my gratitude to the ‘Love Me’ team for letting me go through another ‘good times’ in my life. I also thank all the viewers who kept pace with ‘Love Me’. Please remember it for a long, long time” she said, conveying a message of thanks imbued with affection for the time spent with ‘Love Me’.
Meanwhile, expectations and interest are gathering around Yoon Se-ah’s future work, in which she maximizes each character’s charm.
