Actor Joo Yeon-woo will appear in ‘Efficient Meetings for Single Men and Women’, showcasing a transformation into a highly appealing character.
In the new JTBC weekend drama ‘Efficient Meetings for Single Men and Women’ (written by Lee I-jin, directed by Lee Jae-hoon, produced by SLL), which premieres on the 28th, Joo Yeon-woo takes on the role of personal trainer Im Seung-jun, signaling a fresh presence grounded in a solid physique and seductive charm.
‘Efficient Meetings for Single Men and Women’ tells the story of a woman who resolves to find love, goes on blind dates, meets two men with different charms, becomes drawn to them and conflicted, and ultimately sets out in search of the true meaning of love.
In the story, Joo Yeon-woo becomes Im Seung-jun, the childhood friend of the protagonist Lee Ui-yeong (played by Han Ji-min) who runs a small gym, ‘Deukgeundeukgeun’. Im Seung-jun owns a flawless physique that turns heads even in just a gym T-shirt and gray sweats, yet he lives by a rigorous routine under the pressure to maintain a perfect body at all times.
He and Lee Ui-yeong are ‘real best friends’ who never regard each other as potential romantic partners, and while he unleashes unfiltered nagging at Ui-yeong, he stays by her side more steadfastly than anyone, radiating a tsundere charm. Through the ‘loyal type’ character Im Seung-jun, Joo Yeon-woo is expected to depict cheerful friendship and varied arcs, adding fun and energy to the drama.
Last year, Joo Yeon-woo left a strong impression with consecutive performances in the TVING original ‘Study Group’ and SBS drama ‘Treasure Island’. In ‘Study Group’, he played Kim Soon-cheol, the head of Yeonsu 3 Cheol at Yuseong Technical High School, drawing attention by delivering intense action and rich emotional acting at the same time; in ‘Treasure Island’, he emitted chic charisma as Cheon Gu-ho, the faithful right-hand man to absolute villain Yeom Jang-seon (played by Heo Jun-ho), helping calibrate the tension of the series.
He has also appeared in a range of projects, including the dramas ‘Tracer’, ‘The One I Happened to Run Into’, ‘Lee Doo-na!’, ‘A Wildly Lucky Day’, and ‘Goryeo-Khitan War’, presenting characters with a different face each time.
