UK five-piece soul band Mamas Gun will release the new single [DIG! (feat. Brian Jackson)] on February 4, following [Food For The Flames], unveiled last November as their first single in three years.

This single is the title track of their sixth studio album [DIG!], scheduled for release in April, with the legendary American musician Brian Jackson contributing vocals, keyboards, and flute, further deepening the jazz-funk groove.

The new song ‘DIG! (feat. Brian Jackson)’, like ‘Food For The Flames’, was recorded directly to analog tape, capturing Mamas Gun at their warmest and most vibrant. The lyrics carry a philosophical message: rather than taking only what is visible at face value, dig beneath the surface to confront the truths and the essence hidden there.

Lead vocalist Andy Platts once again highlights his long-standing connection with Brian Jackson through this track. The two first met in 2006 through an introduction from a mutual acquaintance and attempted to work on a song together, but they spent more time in wide-ranging conversations than on music and did not complete the project. After about twenty years, in 2025, performances by Brian Jackson were added to ‘DIG!’, which had been about 80% complete, and the song was finally finished. Regarding the collaboration, Brian Jackson said, “I have always loved funky music with a message and well-crafted lyrics, and when I first heard ‘DIG!’, I felt it was exactly that. This song was destined for us to make together.”

Mamas Gun is a band consisting of lead vocalist Andy Platts, drummer Chris Boot, bassist Cameron Dawson, guitarist Terry Lewis, and keyboardist Dave Oliver, and they debuted in 2009. In Korea, they are widely known to the public for ‘Pots of Gold’, used in commercials, and their representative track ‘This Is the Day’. Pre-orders for the studio album [DIG!], due out on April 10, can be found on Yes24, Hottracks, Aladin, Makestar, and Apple Music.
