Actor Lee Dong-hwi is making a strange film. The uniquely conceptual film ‘Method Acting’, in which Lee Dong-hwi plays Lee Dong-hwi, has set its release date.
‘Method Acting’, in which Lee Dong-hwi plays the character ‘Lee Dong-hwi’, has confirmed a March 18 opening next month and unveiled its first poster and first trailer. ‘Method Acting’ tells the story of ‘funny actor’ Lee Dong-hwi, who rose to fame through comedy but does not want to do comedy, becoming overly immersed in a role to be recognized for sincere acting and what ensues.
The poster released on the 5th catches the eye with the distinctive visual inside his sunglasses, which contrasts with the impassive face of Lee Dong-hwi. Reflected in the sunglasses, the protagonist highlights the green skin, pointed ears, and playful expression of the signature character ‘Al-gye-in’, a box-office success for the character ‘Lee Dong-hwi’.

On top of that, the tagline “Why do you only want me to do comedy?!” lays bare the inner thoughts of ‘Lee Dong-hwi’, who wrestles between a popular image loved for comedy and a thirst to transform as an actor.
The concurrently released trailer shows Lee Dong-hwi entering to a round of applause. Taking on a period drama to attempt straight acting, Lee renews his resolve, but the on-edge set filled with shouting, the director with an icy expression, and the skeptical reactions around him hint that the road ahead will not be smooth.
Having displayed a diverse presence in ‘Reply 1988’, ‘Extreme Job’, ‘Casino’, and ‘Crime City 4’, Lee Dong-hwi plays the protagonist ‘Lee Dong-hwi’, who resembles himself, in ‘Method Acting’. The setup that straddles reality and fiction, together with the natural, sly performance characteristic of Lee Dong-hwi, helps draw viewers in.
In addition, actor Yoon Kyung-ho joins as ‘Lee Dong-tae’, the older brother of ‘Lee Dong-hwi’, with actors Kang Chan-hee, Kim Geum-soon, Yoon Byung-hee, and Gong Min-jung also joining the cast.
Having unveiled its first poster and trailer, the film ‘Method Acting’ is scheduled to meet audiences in theaters on the 18th of next month.
