Actor Moon Ga-young has continued her sharing efforts by donating the proceeds from her essay collection.

The international relief organization Cointree said on the 5th that Moon Ga-young donated 50 million won from the proceeds of her essay collection ‘PATA’(PATA). She had previously donated 100 million won to Ewha Medical Center, and including this donation, her cumulative contributions related to the book’s proceeds total 150 million won.

The funds will be used for the shantytown area of Tulum, Mexico. Cointree explained that the donation has been directed toward creating a foundation for local women’s self-reliance and toward children’s medical support. In particular, it has been used not only for education support but also to build a self-reliance model through job creation, construct school restrooms, and establish an emergency treatment system for children.

Moon Ga-young reportedly communicated with the organization to discuss how to use the funds. This move also led overseas fans to join in with voluntary donations.

Han Young-jun, CEO of Cointree, said of Moon Ga-young, “a leader-type donor who thinks together about how donations are used and the results,” adding, “the support has created a structure that saves the lives of women and children.”

Meanwhile, Moon Ga-young’s essay collection ‘PATA’ recently surpassed its 10th printing. In addition, the film ‘If We’ in which she stars is on the verge of surpassing 2.4 million admissions.
