Singer MC Mong (legal name Shin Dong-hyun) has been engulfed in a series of allegations, including prostitution and proxy prescriptions for psychotropic drugs, facing yet another crisis. In particular, as tips from residents of the apartment where he lives and CCTV footage were made public, the prostitution allegations are spreading widely.
TV Chosun’s ‘Shin Tong Bang Tong’, which aired on the 4th, reported that MC Mong had become embroiled in a prostitution controversy, based on allegations revealed on the 30th of last month by Ilyo Sisa reporter Kim Sung-min through the YouTube channel ‘Kim Sung-min’s Jirit Jirit’.

According to the broadcast, the controversy began with a collective complaint by residents of the apartment where MC Mong lives. Citing the frequent entry of suspicious women at late hours, residents filed reports with the management office and the police, saying, “It seems our apartment is being provided as a place for prostitution.”
When the management office checked the CCTV, footage around 11 p.m. captured MC Mong taking the elevator to his home with three women and acquaintances. The video was reportedly shared with residents during the process of addressing the complaint.
MC Mong flatly denied the allegations to Ilyo Sisa. In a message exchange with the reporter, he emphasized that the women who entered were acquaintances, saying, “It was a day when I ate with people I know and had a wine party.” When Kim asked, “I understand some of them work at adult entertainment establishments,” he explained, “Not everyone who works at a bar engages in prostitution.”
According to the reporting team, MC Mong ultimately made remarks that to some extent acknowledged the related allegations and expressed his intention to “take responsibility himself and step down from management,” and he is said to have resigned from the position of inside director at his agency.
The setbacks do not end there. Recently, through a recording by his former manager Mr. Park, who worked with him for more than 10 years, an allegation also arose regarding proxy prescriptions for zolpidem. In response to the claim that the manager obtained the medication in his own name and delivered it, MC Mong countered, “I receive prescriptions in my own name,” but later changed his words, saying, “I might have received one or two pills the manager had,” further fueling the controversy.
The suspicions surrounding MC Mong are likely to lead to legal punishment, extending beyond a mere private matter, including potential violations of the Medical Service Act and the brokering of prostitution. Public sentiment remains icy amid the daily barrage of negative reports related to MC Mong.
