“Have I ever lost because of looks? Yes”

Even the great Jo In-sung has had moments of conceding to a ‘face’. On the 4th, appearing on the YouTube channel ‘Hajiyoung’, Jo In-sung shared an anecdote about being impressed by fellow actor Lee Jung-jae’s looks.

In the interview that day, when asked ‘Have you ever lost out to someone’s face or vibe?’, he shouted, “I have.” The person in question was Lee Jung-jae.

Jo In-sung said, “Once, I was having a meal with Jung-jae, and the way he looked at the menu to order wine, wow… he just looked so cool. I even asked another older friend next to me, ‘Did you see that? Isn’t it really cool?’”

He added, “I’m talking about the overall aura. I’ve lost to that kind of thing,” praising Lee Jung-jae’s unrivaled presence.

Even so, when asked whether he had ever stood behind the person next to him in photos to make his face look smaller, he answered, “Absolutely not.” He said, “Do I really need to pose like that when I have a social reputation to keep? Wouldn’t trying that hard make me feel more embarrassed?”, drawing laughter.

Of course, true to being a ‘taeto-nam (a man born and bred Korean)’, he candidly shared his confidence in his looks. Asked whether there are times he feels pleased looking in the mirror, he replied, “Yes. I like myself best when my makeup is off. After I wash my face, doesn’t it look all shiny?” Yet when asked about his appeal, he was humble, saying, “My weapon is simply the ordinariness of being as I am.”

Meanwhile, the film ‘Humint’, starring Jo In-sung with Park Jung-min·Shin Se-kyung, is set to open on February 11.
