Singer and producer MC Mong. Sports Kyunghyang DB.
Singer MC Mong (real name Shin Dong-hyun) strongly pushed back against recent reports of prostitution allegations, calling them “blatant falsehoods and a coordinated smear.” In particular, he raised suspicions of ‘illegal acquisition and distribution’ regarding the CCTV footage presented as key evidence.
On the 5th, on his social media, Instagram, he reacted with disbelief, saying “Prostitution allegations?” and “I wonder under whose direction such articles are written with no evidence or physical proof.”
MC Mong first expressed strong doubts about how the CCTV footage that underpinned the prostitution allegations was obtained. He wrote, “For CCTV to be made public, a report must be filed with the police and cooperation from investigative authorities is required, and for another person’s footage, a security guard can open it only when accompanied by the police.”
He added, “No report from any resident was ever filed,” asserting that it was “clearly footage obtained illegally.”
He also maintains that the content of the reported footage is different from the facts. MC Mong explained, “At the time, it was not going into the home but a scene of everyone heading out together.”
In particular, regarding the people who were with him then, he said it was “simply a get-together where I chatted with a close younger male friend, his girlfriend, and acquaintances,” criticizing the media’s malicious framing and even suggesting someone behind it by asking, “Who (is) the one who seems to have the media in hand and is playing with it to make it come to this?”
He also sought to correct the supposed causal link with his resignation from his agency’s internal director post. Reports depicted it as if he stepped down while admitting to prostitution allegations, but he argues the reality is the exact opposite.
According to MC Mong’s side, “That day, after I declared I would quit the company, (acquaintances) gathered to console me,” adding, “Chairman Cha Gawon came by, everyone left, and we talked about work for around 10 minutes, and that was how the day ended.”
He said, “Those who turned an ordinary day no different from anyone else’s into prostitution you are nothing more or less than devils,” sharply criticizing the media, and declared, “I will sue Cha oo, who illegally used the illegally obtained footage and distributed it to reporters, and the reporters who used that footage.”
Meanwhile, TV Chosun’s ‘Shintongbangtong’ aired on the 4th reported that MC Mong had become embroiled in a prostitution controversy based on allegations revealed on the 30th of last month by a reporter affiliated with Ilyo Sisa via the YouTube channel ‘Kim Seong-min’s Jiritjirit.’ The broadcast showed captured images from CCTV at the apartment where MC Mong lives.
