The much-talked-about film ‘Slide Strum Mute’ from solo musician WOODZ, who received ardent love for his self-written song ‘Drowning’ and, ahead of his first full-length album, signals yet another leap befitting an all-round artist, is a mystery short film in which ‘Woo-jin’, after failing an audition one night, plays a broken guitar entrusted to him by a mysterious man and races on desire across a cursed span of time.
Director Park Se-youngwho won at leading domestic film festivals with his debut feature ‘The Fifth Thoracic Vertebra’ and was invited to the Berlin International Film Festival, Sitges Film Festival, Torino Film Festival, and morehandles not only directing but also cinematography and editing, pouring out an unflinching perspective and daring sensibility that genre cinema can offer.
WOODZ plays ‘Woo-jin’, who, after coming into possession of a guitar by chance, hurtles forward driven by the desires he had hidden within, while Justin Min appears as ‘Nam-gi’, a man of unknown identity who entrusted the guitar to ‘Woo-jin’ and the only person who knows the time and curse residing in the instrument, leading a tension-filled drama. Actor Jung Hoe-rin, a rising presence in the independent film scene, delivers a commanding performance as ‘Si-eun’, who watches ‘Woo-jin’ change after obtaining the guitar.
The main poster unveiled commands attention by pairing a never-before-seen image of a seemingly reborn ‘Woo-jin’ with a striking design.
