The musical ‘Lempicka’ explores the dramatic life of Tamara de Lempicka, the ‘Queen of Art Deco’ who captivated the world. Rachel Chavkin, who directed the Tony Award-winning musicals ‘Hadestown’ and ‘The Great Comet’, is involved, and by boldly portraying the survival and desire of a woman artist ahead of her time amid the upheavals of the Russian Revolution and the world wars, the show earned recognition for both artistry and buzz from its Broadway premiere, including nominations in three categories at the 77th Tony Awards in 2024. In addition, numbers that deftly fuse classical music with contemporary pop and rock, together with heart-thumping beats, are expected to sonically etch the autonomous, powerful narrative of Lempicka.
The Korean premiere of the musical ‘Lempicka’ opens on March 21 and runs through June 21 at COEX Artium in Seoul.
